Why do you think you want a special prosecutor. I really don't get it. It's like appointing another f'in white house czar, and the US doesn't do czars very well.

What you want is a US Attorney to act like a US attorney. That is the job of the US attorneys Now if you think Huber isn't doing his job and is dragging his feet, then that will become a very valid criticism in the not very distant future.

And furthermore, if Sessions tells Huber that he works with the IG and he reports directly to Sessions, then Rosenstein is cut out of it. It is a chain of command like every other chain of command. Everyone works for the head boss and he can set up exceptional reporting rules any time he wants.The law is quite clear on this:

28 U.S. Code § 509 "All functions of other officers of the Department of Justice and all functions of agencies and employees of the Department of Justice are vested in the Attorney General except [the functions of administrative law judges in the DOJ, the Federal Prison Industries, Inc and the BOD thereof.]
