It’s there for a reason. Leave it!

The only difference between a 500 and 590 is how the barrel is attached. On a 500 it’s easier to change barrels, on a 590 it’s easier to disassemble the tube magazine for cleaning. If you plan on using it for things other than defense, a 500 is a slightly better choice, if it’s only for defense a 590 is better.

ive always been a little shy placing a shotgun in the top of this list... you really gotta keep in mind you have to clean up the mess afterwards... i dont know about you, but id rather not have to clean every wall in the house... js...

“personally i prefer a pistol as primary but have you ever heard a pistol fired indoors? believe me, it’s LOUD!!!”

Comedian Bill Burr has a bit about picking a 22 pistol for self defense, and being mocked by his gun guy friends. His answer is if someone breaks into his bedroom and he misses in the dark with a 44 mag he’s going to be deaf and blind for the second shot. It’s a fair point.

Interesting. I’ve got a 500A with a 16 inch barrel and ghost ring sights. It came like that stock from the factory. It’s a great shotgun for the price.

I have a 1959 Winchester Model 12 riot gun (original, not cut down), a Mossberg 590a1, and a Rock Island M5.

That being said, my go-to gun for HD is my S&W Model 65 .357 with a 4-inch barrel.

I'm a revolver guy through and through.

Honestly a shotgun isn’t my first choice, but if I’m going to grab one that’s the one I’ll grab.
