I was surprised to see some less known and lesser popular winter sports being as beneficial for your health as the most popular skiing. What is your favorite winter sport that you follow in Olympics?

Snowboarding is brutally hard.

I know.

I have broken ribs and given myself a concussion a few times.

In 2002, it was a particularly great season, which lasted until nearly June.

I cracked two ribs and gave myself a concussion.

Lesson learned, I bought a helmet.

While at my doctor he delivered good news and bad news:
“You did have a concussion and cracked two ribs. Good news is Snowballing season is over so, you have time to heal for next season” my doctor informed.

I responded “Great. I am going to Chile to helicopter snowboard in a week”.

“No, you have cracked ribs. It wouldn’t take much to break one and if it goes through a lung....well” he replied.

“Uhmmmm....Chile is a modern country and they can fix me up with duct tape or whatever they use down there” I laughingly said.

I had a great time and helicoptered to 15,600 feet a few times.

Except for feeling like I was not in very good shape (Air at that elevation is hard to breathe, which was surprising as I go to 10k in Tahoe regularly but, 5K more is tough).

I had a great time and the only pain I felt was the realization that my hours for drinking and partying were early by South American standards.

By midnight I’m moving toward done.

Their standard is midnight is just the beginning.

I did wonder why for several hours in the morning I never waited in line to get on a lift.

Oh, and nothing like taking a fall at 13,000 feet, which is the top of their lift.

The air is thin there as well.

Luv snowboarding. ... and chicks think boarders are way keweler than plankers.... (pizza! Pizza! Pizza! Pffft!)

Snowplow. ...throwing snow is way more fun on a board...

Then there is ice skating and I use to compete on those as well.

Apparently, chicks think you are hot if you can board and skate really well or in my case “Amazing “

Can’t do quads like these young punks do but doubles and attempted triples combined with spins, dance and footwork will wind you....

I love winter and winter sports so much and no matter where I go people seem to know I’m from California.

Must be the walking around everywhere in shorts thing...

Skating to work is the most beneficial to your health.

Hike-in backcountry snowboarding. Adventure, risk, reward. That you burn calories is just gravy.
