Pneumonia, that quickly causes sepsis - perhaps from a compromised immune system, seems to be killing them.
1 study out of thousands.....
1 study on flu that looked at a great # of previous studies and finds the benefit minimal.
Choose as you will. Its a (reasonably) free country.
Some people get a sepsis like syndrome from the flu itself. The flu also leaves you more vulnerable to pneumonia - as a secondary infection. The inflamed and denuded airways caused by the flu are very susceptible to bacterial superinfection particularly staph pneumonia. The folks I have in the hospital right now will be relieved to hear from those on this thread that think the flu epidemic is made up. They arent really sick and can just go home /s
Yep.... I agree.... make your own choices.....
I had no idea that flu itself would cause sepsis, since all Ive heard from recent reports is that flu, leading to pneumonia, causing sepsis, killed many flu victims. Grateful that we Freepers have so many professionals among us - thanks for that easy-to-understand info.
P.s. so even though weve had the pneumonia vaccine, Hubby and I should probably get the flu shot as well, I guess.
The flu causes a sepsis like picture the flu shot is not much help this year but could lighten your symptoms of you get the flu. The pneumonia vaccine only protects against one kind of pneumonia, you can still get a myriad of other kinds. Wash hands eat and rest well and avoid crowds if you can. Stay well!
Will do. Thank you, Mom MD :)
Hubs and I got flu shots through work. DS1 did not. He was in terrible shape for about a week and missed work — most unlike him. Then we got it. It was like a super bad cold ... even so we had to reschedule Christmas so we wouldn’t infect my parents. For me the cough was the worst ... I was afraid I was getting pneumonia again, but we made it through. I coughed for about two weeks then. I think we would have been pretty bad off.
Yup, no matter what they say.
Don’t get the shot.
Get sick. And die, possibly.
It will reduce the costs of caring for you, help reduce social security payments, and save some valuable air and food.
You will be a statistic. And after your families have adjusted you will be thought of occasionally.
Then no one will care.
So, do whatever you want. Hopefully others won’t be so stupid. But, we don’t care about them either.
That wasn’t the flu. You had a cold. A common misconception.
Toss in that the researcher who started this whole thing, now admits he was wrong.
If the 1918 flu was fresh on people’s minds when you were a kid, you should absolutely get the vaccine every year. You are a good cold away from the grave.
I’ll risk it.
