"As we prepare for the start of the fall semester, the nation is still reeling from the violence that erupted last weekend in Charlottesville, Virginia. Our hearts go out to the victims, families, and individuals whose lives were torn apart by such horrific actions. Organizations built on racism and hate, such as the KKK, have no place in our society. They do not reflect our values and certainly not the values of XXXXXXX.
"Our institution was founded with the goal of providing opportunities for everyone seeking an education. Since the beginning, we have championed peace, tolerance, and equity. Our open doors have helped the college become a richly diverse community of students and employees. We must continue to provide a welcoming and supportive environment.
"Our policies and procedures ensure everyone has the resources needed to be successful, and we do not and will not tolerate discrimination, harassment or hatred in any form.
"We must remain vigilant against hatred. Student Services and the Diversity Committee are currently developing a series of programs for the college community on race and the broader topic of bias. These will take place in the first few weeks of the semester. The college will also collaborate with XXXXX and serve as a host for upcoming XXXXXX events. I hope that this programming will provide a safe space for thoughtful dialogue.
"By working together, we can continue to build understanding within our diverse community."
BARF-O-RAMA.
I want to write scathing letters to this pres who has the temerity to think we all think liberal and that if we don't, we're just mean dangerous bigots. Problem is I need this low-pay PT job, my mother referred me into it so it reflects on her though she hasn't worked there in a while, so I bite my tongue and "deal with it".
What is one to do? Maybe, I just want to gripe and have others listen!
