Even if we didn’t do it, that won’t stop Kim the ill from using anti-aircraft guns to eliminate two or three of his engineers.

LOL

You nailed it, first post.

Was just, you know, observing the launch.

In 1994 when I was at Osan AB ROK, I sat in the Control Tower and watched a testing between a EC-140 and a Military C-21 firing Laser/particle Test beams from both ends of the runway at each other for about 2 hours.
You could see with the naked eye an occasional greenish light wink on and off occasionally, but when view through binoculars, you couldn't see any light at all.
I never did hear how the test runs turned out.

i believe depending on how they are tuned whether you can see them or not, less there's particulate or something in the air

ranging beams?

It must have been some coating on the binoculars of that time.
I could see it with my naked eyes,
but when viewed through my binoculars in the Air Traffic Control Tower, I didn't see anything from the wing pods that had the Lazer devise.
Yet I could look over the top of the binoculars and see the greenish light flicker clearly.

Not very likely...a better bet is that a break neck development schedule for the launch to coincide with the Day of the Sun celebration, the lack of competent engineers (engineers on previous failed missile launches were either sent to gulags or executed), the lack of precision manufacturing and special materials and micromanaging of the project by a lunatic all contributed

Does anyone think that their missle program facilities are connected to the internet?

If not how would it be pulled off?

Have to laugh at the reporter's feeding frenzy on this subject.

They're all over anyone - State Dept, WH, Pentagon, AF - to admit that we did or didn't cook/hack that missile.

Do they really expect a straight answer? Why would anyone say HOW or even IF we had a hand in it?

Screw the public's "right to know". It's much better it remains a mystery...

I say Trump should make the world stand still in North Korea. Knock out their electric power and computers with a high altitude Nuke and say it was a test gone wrong. No power at all. All radios and Tvs out—all major radars our, a show of what we can do with electronics alone—and a few stealth planes or drones. Turn em back to the 19th Century for a while. That would send a message! Next stop—Iran.

Have you ever seen the picture of North Korea taken at night from a satellite? I’d say 98 percent of the country is without electricity. It is a stark reminder of how terrible the infrastructure actually is. Even in Pyongyang there are daily rolling blackouts. It would take very little to completely shut down their electrical grid, such as it is.

All big rockets have a destruct command.

If the rocket/missile goes off the intended course, the range safety officer pushes the button and the destruct command is sent to the missile. This prevents the thing from going off course and accidentally hitting something valuable you do not want destroyed.

The big question is how hard is it to find out this command and send it to the missile?

Did the missile go off course or did it explode? If it went off course, it could have been done through a computer hack. If it exploded, it could have been hit with something we have to knock out missiles. Laser? Rail gun? Upgraded SM-2 surface-to-air missile?
