Draining the swamp is the goal. Getting there is the problem. Ryan’s explanation of the critical path timeline for repeal of Obamacare is no joke. Once the golden window closes, it will be a year before its tried again. The goridan knot will stay tied and no amount of huffing and puffing will change the status quo. Its one thing to want something real hard and another thing to achieve it.
The finances of the system cannot work if the replacement has the pre-existing conditions and coverage on parents until 26 and elaborate pregnancy benefits—and conbine it with a voluntary enrollement by folks who decide they want coverage.
Ask any insurance salesman who has sold health insurance. You have to really SELL health insurance to healthy people. You have to virtually call up the image of the ambulance roaring up to take the partent or child to the hospital. Individual policies never make money for an insurer and have the lowest rate of maintained coverage of any form of insurance.
The only people who seek out an agent for health insurance already know they have some kind of medical condition or want pregnancy coverage. This is why policies have rational exclusions against pre-existing conditions or pregnancy that where birth occurs within 9 months of the inception of the policy. Folks think they can get away with lying but seldom do so because they always have doctor’s records that document the previous treatmens.
