There's a fameous *maybe* exaggerated story from the Desert Storm period about a 3rd Infantry Blackhawk going down, and every 76 Yankee supply clerk and property book officer with anything missing from inventory had the helpful crew add their shortages to the bird's cargo manifest, making in all a pretty hefty load for a rotary-wing aircraft.
The accident investigation board was not overly amused, but went along with the game, and noted in their report conclusions that the failure of the aircraft to achieve flight after takeoff may have been due to the overloading and that a fixed-wing cargo aircraft should have been used to move the brigade's load....
