Why did he feel the need to say this now? Are his agents pissed that she is getting away with her spin in the media?

I think the FBI director is appointed for up to 10 years.
I can think of two options for Ms. Clinton. One of her choosing and one which is not. Neither involve jail time. Nor do either involve the presidency.
They're both wrong. It's a smokescreen... total BS "investigation".

Any comment the Trumpster made would politicized. Particularly if Comey decided to move forward with a recommendation to indict... in that case, Trump's statement would be used to criticize the results of the investigation. Such as it is.
The best we can hope for is a combo-pack of a little bit of punishment like Patreus and a lighter version of being “Scooterized”. It will be just enough to embarrass, hopefully just enough to kick her our of the campaign (Public Records Act of 1950 calls for her to never hold office), but probably not enough to be fitted for an orange suit.
And now Her Thighness and America are told point blank that she is indeed under investigation...(and the FBI only does criminal investigations)
