$35 million to shoot for a week on the campus of Michigan State University?

A dog that has earned almost $800-million at the box office worldwide and is poised to soon enter the top 50 all-time in ticket sales after just three weeks in theaters.

But with Hollywood accounting it will not be showing a profit.

The movie was horrible, but people will go anyway because its a comic book movie by a big studio.....

I will never understand why DC which has great source material cannot make a good movie.

I think it would be more accurate to tell how much each TAX-PAYING household contributed to the cost. Spreading it out per household is misleading, IMHO.

Good grief. I am not surprised. They paid 35m yet the government of Flint didn’t want to pay extra so they could get non-poisonous water. Pfft.

And it was predicted to do much better. Considering all the cash they spent to make, market and promote it, it needed to. It had the highest drop EVER for a movie between Friday and Sunday.
The studio thought it would be a much bigger box office because you are taking arguably 2 of the top 3 most recognizable super-heroes and putting them in a movie together.
It was totally humorless and dark in tone, God forbid they ever crack a joke. The director said “We couldn’t put Jimmy Olsen in much of the movie, but we did something fun with his character.” They shot him in the head in the first 10 minutes.
Meanwhile with Marvel, you’ve got Deadpool cracking jokes, and setting records, you’ve got Guardians of the Galaxy, full of nobody has ever heard of these guys, that was just a lot of fun to watch, and the upcoming “Civil War” storyline which I can’t wait to see. If it’s at all like the other Captain America movies, it will have some humor, some tugging at the heart-strings and also, awesome action.
My prediction is that Captain America will die though and Bucky will take over the shield as the new Cap.

As a Michigan resident, it makes me wish that we had some kind of religious liberty laws that would offend them so they won’t come here to make films anymore.

Until Dr. Strange uses the Time Gem at the end of Infinity Wars Part 1 and brings him back to life, so he can utter the famous AVENGERS ASSEMBLE phrase, uniting the divided and on-the-ropes good guys into a solid fighting force against Thanos.

I’ll put $1.00 on it.

It’s possible he may just retire. But bottom line is this: the actor playing Captain America has basically said that he’s done. His contract ends with this movie (I believe), and he’s already said he’s thinking about moving away from acting and moving more into directing.
Sebastian Stan, on the other hand, still has something like 6 movies left on his Marvel contract.
Two things Marvel is doing exactly right: All of their movies are taking place in the same timeline, which I’m sure is a nightmare logistically, but I like it. And also, they’ve said they will not be doing any re-boots, which makes me love them so much. I mean seriously, how many different versions of Batman’s origin do you need?

Still the best comic movie IMHO.

Oh, cool - I didn’t know that about their contracts. That could change everything then.

Or Spider Man’s, too. I hope this next incarnation of the web-slinger is the LAST one of my lifetime.

Lol, I was debating on if I should have said Batman or Spider Man, but I just find Bat-ffleck more tedious.

I should have qualified, a movie that isn’t a dedicated Batman film.

They have such great source material, but they just don’t know how to generally make a movie.

B v S was just a mess on every level.

You honestly better off watching the animated Batman: The Dark Night Returns part 1 & 2 on Netflix than the mess they put on the screen in B v S.

The Luther character served no purpose and was un-needed, the natural personality differences between Superman and Batman are more than enough to drive them to conflict... don’t need some babbling antagonist who’s behavior and plot device make no sense whatsoever to manipulate them into the inevitable conflict.

The DOOMSDAY storyline, was just wedged in for no reason as well other than to have a bunch of CGI and force the death of superman storyline in when it really didn’t need to be.

DC has destroyed Superman in the latest set of movies, they just can’t seem to realize they have great source material they don’t need to try to pander with it.

Much like the Man of Steel, you would be better served watching the 1978 superman again, even with its corny time travel ending, over the slop they put up trying to make Supe’s dark and brooding and afraid to be who he is.

DC/WB just can’t seem to make a damn movie that isn’t a dedicated batman film, and even then its a hit and miss.

I expect Civil War to be a dud... I’m sure it will do well at the box office, but Captain America character on film is a patriot just for the sake of being a patriot, he isn’t the Captain of the source material... and these good guys fighting each other plotlines.... rarely play out all that well.

Again, assume it will be successful financially, but like Iron Man 3, expect it to be a dog.

As long as Sony has the rights, don’t bet on it... they have to use the character every so often or the rights revert back to Marvel/Disney... so expect them to keep making bad Spider Man movies until you die.
