Number one...I never said that. I think you presume too much. But
Two things, FRiend.

First I would submit that you could swap “trump” and “Cruz” in your last comment and it would hold equally true if you view it w an open mind.

Second, you didn’t answer my question, which I fear is very telling, and inherently important and pertinent to your comment:
Where is Trumps Mitch McConnell moment, where he stood on principle and did the right thing, even though he knew it would cost him?

So I gather you do not want to answer the question. By your own statement, it’s not rocket science. Maybe I am dense. So it should be easy to answer, right?

Sorry...screwed up my cut and paste....didn’t mean to repeat that first part.

I beg to differ...to a point. There are some names that are over the top and I don’t use them (trumpanzee). However others are simply a shorter form of writing “trump supporter” and rational people should not get offended. Same as “cruzers” and “cruzer losers”. One is derogatory, one is shorthand. I see no issue with trumpies or trumpeters.

“...My logic for voting for Trump in the general election is at the least, he’ll give us better Court nominees than would the Dems...”

Based on what? His “NYC-Values”? There is no reason to think Trump would do anything but (at best, hopefully not worse than) appoint centrists to the courts, if he actually does the choosing. More likely, he will be handed a list with recommendations and after studying it like a chicken watching a card-game, will agree. But I’m certain he will assure us that his court picks will be, “Fabulous, really smart and qualified people. Just great people. And let me tell you, they are going to be super!”

Look, I’m not saying Trump will be a complete disaster, but I am saying that his 7th grade understanding of govt and the constitution (so far displayed, unless he’s sand-bagging us) should not lead anyone to expect that he knows “up” from “down” in selecting a SCOTUS appointee. And those jokers are appointed for *life*. It is one of my biggest fears with Trump as it could have seriously bad repercussions for the rest of my natural life and last for generations. Especially with Trump agreeing with some of the more liberal SCOTUS rulings. Should we expect more Kagens, Sotomayors, Ginsbergs and Souters? The next president will very likely appoint up to three justices. Should we roll the dice?

So yeah, Trump pokes the GOPe in the eye and that’s satisfying, but I’m looking beyond that.

I think you're missing my point. I am not saying that I want Trump in the primary. I'm saying only that if he is the nominee, I'll vote for him in the general election. Of the seven people on that last debate stage, he's easily my last choice.

As to the Supreme Court...if he doesn't know up from down, that at least gives him a 50% chance of getting it right. With Hillary or Bernie, it's 100% that they're going to get it wrong. But in terms of up from down, his sister is a Reagan appointee on the 7th Circuit. That should give him a better than 50-50 shot.

Frankly, I'd hope that if worst comes to worst and he's the nominee, that he wins the general and puts Cruz on the Court. I personally think that is the job for which Cruz is best suited, even though I still think he'd be a good President.

So yeah, Trump pokes the GOPe in the eye and that’s satisfying, but I’m looking beyond that.

So am I, which is why a primary season that looked to be capable of producing a really good candidate who can win is starting to become depressing as hell.

If Jeb wasn't so self-absorbed in his pity party, he'd drop out and endorse Cruz or someone else who has a better chance to take out Trump. Maybe get a domino effect among other marginal candidates. Unfortunately, I don't think that's going to happen.

Rush: Remember when National Review was the voice of conservatism?

It bears repeating that Rush himself recently said that Trump is not a conservative, at least compared to Reagan, who was a gold standard for NR conservatism in his day.

The answer is rather easy, and very trite and if you have half the intellect as you want to convey, then I’m quite certain you fully understand it.

The million dollar question that begs for answer:
how to take out Trump? All these fools tripping all over themselves have tried everything in their bag of tricks, only to see it have the opposite effect.

Enter the new talking points - the GOPe wants Trump!
Yea, that’s the ticket, send out the jedi mind tricks, if those guys are FOR him, these silly emotional non-conservative fools will turn on him!! Woo hoo, we found the golden key.

It’s pathetic and frankly, a sad reflection on these minions. Let me say to you - the GOPe is fully for amnesty, as are countless big money baggers - and now I’ll sit back and watch the Cruz fans champion the likes of Lowry and Beck and Steyner (sp) as they go for Trump’s throat - all in a sad attempt to clear the path for Cruz - and then what? They’re going to let Cruz slid right in?

It will be one of two things:

1. They’ll turn their vitriol on Cruz
2. They’ll prop him up - which will very clearly reveal just how unopposed to amnesty Cruz truly is.

You guys lose no matter what and therefore, WE all lose.

I don’t know why this is so hard to understand....we want to go for trumps throat because we do not trust him to even remotely govern as a conservative, bound by the constitution and advancing the cause of individual liberty. Everything (!!!) about his life to date indicates that those principles are foreign to him.

I get it. Y’all think he’s the greatest thing since sliced bread. We don’t. We have grave, grave misgivings and think in all likelihood, in the long run, he may be the worst of all the options on that stage. And that’s said as someone who loathes bush, Christie, kasich et al.

I believe they would next turn on Cruz to slip in an amnesty guy controlled by special interests.

If you look at the list at NR who are attacking Trump, several are not conservatives but pathetic choices because apparently they could not find enough conservatives. Glenn Beck a Conservative? No way.

Whatever one thinks of Trump, he did us enormous favors by puncturing the left's attack on our freedom through PC. He brought up the issues of immigration and of temporarily limiting admitting Syrian invaders who are creating havoc all over Europe. Nobody can claim that Jeb or Rubio would be better unless they want to surrender to these foreign hordes. Plus Rubio brings a long list of potential scandals.

Take it any way you want it. If it bothers you at all, it proves my point.

Oh my, I think I shall avoid engaging with you further. It seems you skim what I write and have reflex reactions.

It is clear as day why you’re going for his throat. How could anyone miss it?

I just don’t believe you are going to get the outcome you want with Cruz. Powers that be won’t allow it and it would help your perspective if you understood that.

Thank you Dante, it helps to have back up here! It is plain as day to me and I’m so baffled by anyone falling for this ridiculous tactic. It has GOPe screaming from the mountain tops, ala Dean!

If voters are that clueless, and I sincerely pray they are NOT, they we have a lot of work to do.

I didn’t skim. I was offering a contrary opinion. I’m sorry if that doesn’t agree with your worldview. I also understand, quite fully, that your OPINION is that the powers that be “won’t allow it”. However it is just your opinion. And it has exactly as much worth as mine, because neither one of us are making a living as fortune tellers.

My opinion is that if conservatives would actually support the conservative in the race, what the powers that be want or don’t want wouldn’t matter a whit.

You go with that Axe, I’m sure it’s a winning track, I’m guessing you’re converting people left and right.

I’ll stick with my guy, you stick with yours. And yes, we both have our own opinions and thanks for respecting mine.

Cruz is being attacked just like Reagan was in 1980. When he was president, Reagan fought as much with the eGOP as he did with the dems.
