so you are opposed by the one man - one vote in these counties deciding that they’d rather govern themselves rathar than socalists in Sacramento. Explains a lot to me, thank you.

Have no plan/stratigy - let them set up their own state to govern themselves. Sounds like a plan to me.

I never said that in any way, shape or form.

I pointed out the flaw in their reasoning. The article argues that they are underrepresented in the state legislature.

They are not: this a mathematical error.

If that is the substance of their argument, it is very weak.

Have no plan/stratigy - let them set up their own state to govern themselves.

There are two issues here.

(1) The US Constitution plainly states that you cannot create a new state out of the territory of an existing state without the consent of that state's legislature and the consent of Congress.

Until they can get both of those legislative bodies to agree to separation - an impossible task - they are going nowhere.

(2) Even if they were able to do this, then every county or group of counties that had some grievance or other could try the same thing, and the process would be endless. This "State of Jefferson" would become ten states soon enough. Once you develop a taste for extraordinary measures they become ordinary.

Thanks ag. I didn't know it was a blanket federal ruling.

Yeah, it's interesting that what is OK for Federal representation via the Constitution is not good enough for the states...

Soon, we *will* have 57 states.
