I would suggest it’s because they can’t use it to buy anything they really need or want.

“Gather the clan, read the Bible, defend the perimeter.”

We live in a place with pretty good year-round nutrition possibilities, if you can learn to love kudzu and nettles, and a lot of like-minded neighbors.

I actually believe the remnants of the old system will hold together for my lifetime, but there are probably a lot of people who’ve said that and then starved in the ruins. Good thing I don’t care if I die. “My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better.”

2 things I can think of regarding metals after the SHTF: First Gold/Silver will be easily, (and maybe the only thing), accepted by any new Gov. of ours that comes out of the ashes as a conversion or ‘trade in for the new’ for what they possibly might or will establish as their new ‘money’ system. 2: Their might be folks whom will only accept for whatever their reasons, as a trade for their goods/items etc, precious metals from the second party. We will see I guess.

Right. Gold and silver may function as money. A hybrid monetary-barter economy is a development from what we currently have, not a complete break.

Amen. We occupy until He comes.

Then, all the past is no more.

It’s completely natural to look on what we’re used to as the “global default.” However, it doesn’t take much time reading history to realize that we’ve lived in a bubble of peace and unprecedented prosperity.

But look at the misery of so many people, including very rich people, with the most comfortable lives ever seen on earth. It’s all dross. Nothing matters ... NOTHING ... except Christ.

Yes, spread the Gospel as fast and as quickly as possible. By Bibles given away, tracts, TV, internet.

We’re in the late hours before the tribulation gets going, IMHO.

They keep talking a “peace deal” that creates an “official” Palestinian state.

Yep. I have no doubt that it will come, however.

The U.N. has made it a goal. Tony Blair of The Quartet. Has already purchased a house for him in Jerusalem with this one goal. They were spending too much on hotels for him and his staff.

Shoot, W. had Condi on this, O, lefties in Israel like Shimon Peres and Tzipi Livni, and they even had Bibi talking about it.

I won’t be surprised if it happens, either. It will stink for almost everyone there and everyone contiguous, though.

Exactly. When things go really, really, really bad, all that matters is what you can eat, or burn, or kill with.

People in a subsistence economy still take gold and silver, knowing that others will then accept those metals. People living on $2 per person per day still spend a surprising amount of that money on coffee, tea, beer, and other "luxury" goods. [And those are luxuries if you are accepting reduced calories in order to get caffeine/alcohol.]

I would not trade stored food/ammo/medicine that I thought I needed for gold or silver, but I would trade my labor for precious metals, and I would trade extra berries, fruit from my trees, and other extras for silver and gold. And I would give silver or gold in return for some venison jerky if my hunting skills could not keep up, for tanning services for a deer skin since I don't know how to tan, or for other goods/services that would still be needed.

I know you two have already seen the video.

But for lurkers who may not have. Figured Nully would do a ping.

Off to the side, her wrist (left wrist, admittedly) seems to be tattooed (?). Weird. Just saw this. It’s at 3:43 when she makes her payment of downloaded electronic cash.

Watch THIS video and FF to 3:43 or so.

The concept of money does not require government.

Kind of ridiculous to think everyone turns into murderous idiots as soon as government goes away. Sure there are going to be bad seeds but just be ready for them. Kind of funny how you think.

Yellin was clearly in some kind of distress in that video and the Banksters didn’t even offer assistance.

She knows things are bad and the Fed no longer has any control so she was about to stroke out.

There are no more cards to shuffle.

Look at that second video. Start at about 3:24. When they go for coffee after the hat purchase, he pumps up his wrist to get it to show the laser tat (I guess) and then “pays” after which the clerk takes away the scanner.

And it’s right upon us at this very moment. The non-believing world will rush to such a system. Having never read Revelation chapters 13 and 14.
