omg, this is great! I’m proud to read this, although I must say, I am not surprised.
Brothers in arms...It’s good to hear a French soldier’s perspective and thoughts, especially that he thinks so highly of our countrymen.
May God bless all of “our” fighting men and women who are engaged with the savages of the ME.
Thanks for the ping JJ.
Our guys can fight - but this guy can sure write!
Your statement above reminded me of John Basilone an Italian American MOH recipient and wow was he a “fighter”.
Cool story! Thank you for the ping! I’ll pass this along to Steve he’ll love it!
It's called "payback" and nobody does it better than the Marines.
What is that supposed to mean?
25 of the battle honors on the flag of the United States Army are for combat action against the Confederate States Army.
So you lump “Grey backs” with let’s see Huns, krauts, Japs, gooks, Charlies right? I would say Lincoln’s Goon squad in blue were the real enemies but that’s just my opinion.
The Confederate Army was the enemy of the United States Army from 1861 to 1865. Your opinions have no bearing on that fact.
What the Hell is he talking about?
Have I ever heard of the 173d Airborne Brigade? Have you ever heard of the Punch Bowl or Porkchop Hill? The casualty figures say it all: over 33K US KIA. Were the Peoples Liberation Army as tough as the Taliban? Certainly not, they were far tougher & better equipped.
From some homes, some ranches, same farms & some cities. We now allow our young males the option to watch it on television as young women their age (standards dropped to accommodate them) go of to war.
Gee, a French Soldier thinks better of our Troops than the current Commander In Chief.
Brit english vs Yank english, probably
I also believe that all would serve with equal strength in each others wars. Survival and love would do it.
Not necessarily. If the agenda of the communists is to destroy or weaken then the result would be what we see. It is of the utmost importance to keep up morale and training. The budget cuts are the worst thing ever. Are you listening representatives of the people?

Almost certainly correct. Realize that France and England are two countries just a few miles apart across the Channel, with hundreds of years of intertwined history. Typically an educated Englishman speaks French, and vice versa. So the English the French writer is accustomed to hearing is British English, not American English.
So on top of the fact that it’s a second language, you’ve got that whole “two peoples separated by a common language” thing going on as well.
This may not bode well for our future.
Great post.
