Yes. I remember that now. It’s just that tonight it didn’t ring a bell and I thought you were talking about something else. Like I said above—that it’s hard to search for a word within a scanned document that’s an image and not a text file. OCR software can convert it to a text file that can be scanned. There’s no trick to scanning that dissertation. You open the pdf and use the search function.
Know the process
Been there done that
Yes
Wish we had that program available
Otoh there’s a need for the visual and a need to follow throu all hunches.
For example
The other night I notice my fathers ring. It had belonged to his dad and not only holds much sentimental value but signifies his membership in an organization
That made me think of O’s ring does any of those criteria fit it
What we knew
He wore it on his wedding finger
Started wearing it after coming back from Indonesia
It’s made of good
He treasures it
So I started to look if it had any connection to a group meaning
Was told by two in authority it has some incantation to Alan on it
Fred says its an African hair ring and parts of it resemble rings of that style but not all of it
I’d been looking at the Bali snake rings because he’d visited that area of the world even though Africa would be logical too
Its design is unique so i Placed “gold” in her dissertation to see if she had worked with any goldsmith. She had
Fred send me the Chinese life symbol that the Subud sign is patterned after ( much appreciated)
BUT knowing that it was created just for him IMO I’m not content to think its just an elephant hair ring although part of it may mimic that. I’m still searching to find other sources for the remaining parts of ring.
( every society has drums string instruments and wind and use circles in their art)
Sorry Fred this may be
1+1= 11
Just as you finally figured out the picture was taken In HI
I’m still looking at those pictures
I guess she was just looking for words in the book, but why not just read it? Not sure what “the travel record” has to do with her dissertation.

It’s a good train of thought. He treasures that ring. He’s worn it for ages. He’s pictured wearing it at Occidental. Can’t remember if it’s seen in Punahou photos. So he gets married and the story goes that Michelle agreed that he could use that ring as his wedding ring. To each his/her own, but to me that means it’s very important, so it was maybe given to him by someone special or it once belonged to someone special. A father or father figure? Belonged to someone who died? A part of it looks as if it was damaged and then poorly repaired. Smashed. Seems he could have it resized and wear it on the other hand, so he could wear a ring Michelle gave him, but not so. These are just my thoughts about it.
“....On Java, mystical groups, such as Subud, also lobbied for official recognition and protections. Their position was stronger than that of remote peoples because they had followers in high places, including the president.”
Maggief, many thanks for finding that information!
Hoosiermama, check this out! Ties right in with the info in your post #1052!!
Were Suharto AND Yudhoyono-Budiono both members??
Link to keep with above comment

Think I posted that earlier up thread in content with the entire article but thanks for being it to attention again
It reminded me of a question: so we know if he has a journal or any mention of his travels.before starting to wear the ring. Iow did he personally meet any one? What do we know about the family he stayed with?
Remember we are looking at older material we’ve read before now looking for a Subud connection
They were safe because they were the next best thing to a sufi-muslim as was Pak Subud, and Suharto was assisted in his overthrow of Sukarno by islam - don’t just skip over the fact that history is still arguing over how many ‘infidels’ were slaughtered, was it one million or two million?
And then when Indonesia became an islamic nation under Suharto, the killing stopped.
Your CIA was there in the thick of it.
There was nothing ‘mystical’ about it.
INDONESIA IS A MUSLIM NATION. SUBUD IS AN ISLAMIC OFFSHOT. PAPAK SUBUD WAS A SUFI-MUSLIM.
I imagine it escaped your notice that zero made his first overseas speech at the very same university/mosque in Cairo where Malcolm X spent 18 weeks being tutored in sunni-islam before he was able to make the hajj to Mecca after his conversion.

excerpt:
As a student of history, I also know civilizations debt to Islam. It was Islam at places like Al-Azhar University that carried the light of learning through so many centuries, paving the way for Europes Renaissance and Enlightenment. It was innovation in Muslim communities that developed the order of algebra; our magnetic compass and tools of navigation; our mastery of pens and printing; our understanding of how disease spreads and how it can be healed. Islamic culture has given us majestic arches and soaring spires; timeless poetry and cherished music; elegant calligraphy and places of peaceful contemplation. And throughout history, Islam has demonstrated through words and deeds the possibilities of religious tolerance and racial equality.
I know, too, that Islam has always been a part of Americas story. The first nation to recognize my country was Morocco. In signing the Treaty of Tripoli in 1796, our second President John Adams wrote, The United States has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Muslims. And since our founding, American Muslims have enriched the United States. They have fought in our wars, served in government, stood for civil rights, started businesses, taught at our Universities, excelled in our sports arenas, won Nobel Prizes, built our tallest building, and lit the Olympic Torch. And when the first Muslim-American was recently elected to Congress, he took the oath to defend our Constitution using the same Holy Koran that one of our Founding Fathers Thomas Jefferson kept in his personal library.
Meanwhile, you’re looking for where he bought A RING!?
I’ve ordered the book should be here in a day or two
It is on e book and is fairly reasonably used
Since it was published before FU-D’s deAth and all the Subud controversy am hoping something will have slipped in to our advantage
Also ordered the nut case that’s appeared on most the major networks been on o Reallys and Hammifies and has testified before congress. The ex NAVY guy. ( that all has checked out). Now to look at his resources and footnotes. Learned a long time ago its what doesn’t make it into the book that may be most critical
Remember we’ve been asked to find a connection between Subud and o or his family
From what I’ve read the president was definitely a member.
Other phrases found said:
People in high government office
No we are looking for a connection to Subud. Was he or any member of his family a member of the cult?
I’d venture to say X was not a member Not with his trip to Mecca
Then keep looking. Last I heard, there were twenty thousand of them all around the world. Maybe you’ll find a membership list, like you expected me to supply for the Unitarian Church.
And when you do, let me know, because I’m sure that will prove him to be ineligible to be p.o.t.u.s. - what with your Freedom of Religion and all.
And don’t foget the ring. It has to have some serious magical significance. Maybe he rubs it every night and mohammad’s magic horse with the face and breasts of a woman and peacock feathers in his tail comes out of a secret door in the oval office and takes him to visit allah in the sky...
FR mail
I've got a heap of nuts, enough to last me for a long time, I'm not greedy...if you find any more, they are all yours.
Good night Fred
