mowed down your link to the world
That is all it might take for the end of the world as we know it
To: Silentgypsy
We didn't watch movies last weekend because Bryan left on Friday morning on a business trip to China.
He arrived home again today, and our phone and Internet connections were restored shortly after he got me online with the Samsung tablet.
I switched back to our regular ISP, and it was blazing fast for several hours, but is now back to being throttled again. DSL? Feh!
The Movie Reviews
"Solomon Kane" Instant Play
With James Purefoy, Max von Sydow, Pete Postlethwaite, Rachel Hurd-Wood, Alice Krige, Mackenzie
Crook, Patrick Hurd-Wood, Jason Flemyng
2009, Rate R for violence throughout, 104 minutes
A formerly murderous and greedy sea captain in 17th Century England retires to a monastery. Eventually, the
Abbot kicks him out, and he chooses pacifism, but gets his butt handed to him. As innocent people are falling
prey to demonic-controlled slave mongers and killers, he comes to realize that he must use his formidable
fighting skills to save the people and the woman he loves, who was captured after her family was killed. This
is a spectacular story.
★★★★
"Vampire"
With Kevin Zegers, Keisha Castle-Hughes, Amanda Plummer, Trevor Morgan, Adelaide Clemens, Yû Aoi,
Kristin Kreuk, Rachael Leigh Cook
2011, Rated R for suicide and death, 118 minutes
This was one of the slowest, most boring and disgusting movies I've ever seen. The "vampire" isn't, he's merely
a serial killer who chooses women from suicide chat rooms because they would die anyway. He drains them
dry, using drugs and hospital paraphernalia, and he covers his tracks after involuntarily puking up the small
amount of blood that he drinks. Spoiler: in the end, he does the right thing and donates blood for one of his high
school students who tried to kill herself, rendering him too anemic to escape from the police, who have found
some of his victims in freezers in his "secret room."
Do not bother with this movie unless you need something to bore you to sleep.
★★ One extra star for the actresses' beautiful portrayals of depressed and suicidal women.

Couple years back they had some genius backhoe through a buried phone line.
County worker no less.
That was a good week.

Well, I do have a cellphone, but it sure mowed down my link to FR.
One of my Texas friends looked up my ISP for me on his computer and got the customer service number for me.
I called and got a repair ticket number, but it was another 24 hours before they fixed the little tower.

lol
Civilization is a very thin veil sometimes
To: GeronL
That it is!
Angry villagers, mad scientists, and I swear a few mutants made an appearance that week.

I just love the way you always look on the bright side, Darks.

Probably got buzzed by time traveling UFO’s carrying alien tourists looking to go slumming

My internet.... I mean our neighbors internet is going like molasses right now. I can’t be watching any video.
I am having Korean drama withdrawal... wait how is that spelled? Anyways... I did download some Kpop videos off Youtube, that should tide me over through this storm.

Bright?
The fiery goat was somewhat illuminating.
And that was the least Lovecraftian event that week.

I don’t play online games. I still had access to my solitaire and Sudoku games.
Plus, I had been saving Matt Bracken/Travis McGee’s two short stories in my “restore previous session” cache, so I got a chance to read those as well.
And I got a chance to talk on my cell with my Texas buddy who is my best Internet friend.
Life goes on.
To: Darksheare
Well [cough] I wasn’t aware of the immolating goat... this time...
To: TheOldLady
It came from some rift in reality, lept forth with a goaty “Weeaugghl!”
Then proceeded to eat several flower gardens worth of plants.
Dark rumor is that it has plans to start its own gathering in the desert “burning goat” in hideous reference to “burning man”.
I wish it luck.

I bought his anthology. Very good stuff.
life goes on... tomorrow.... but I’m impatient (heh)

Burning Goat? With a supernatural flaming goat from another dimension?
Cool.
Burning Man reminds me of Nic Cage.
To: GeronL
I really have to order all his stuff. He is a riveting author, and his stories weave in and out of
our current events like a pervasive river.
He’s a neato guy as well. When I was thinking of buying my Sapphire, he gave me a lot of
advice about it in FReepmail. Nice and helpful as can be is a great way to go through life.
What a guy.

Which makes men dress in bear costumes, punch crazy cult wimmens off mountains, wharbagarbl on bees, and ultimately wear a giant wicker mech suit that combusts in shame from being pathetic.
(At least, creative editing of The Wicker Man could give that impression.)
