Thank you. Very good suggestions and info I am getting from Freeps. It is a shame American citizens are being treated from our own Govt.

It could be. She read it to me and it included all the info that is accurate (mailing address, return govt. envelope, director name), but anyone can get that from the Selective Service site. I’m waiting for the pic/or her to run the thing over. I’m just glad that I have the BC. If I didn’t she would have mailed it without having to ask me and if it was a scam, someone would have the info. What was asked for was a copy of her BC. I’m not sure if it was to be a certified or a photocopy. Sending either makes no sense. A phone call to SS tomorrow should be enough to settle the matter, unless of course, the Obamacare bill had this hidden somewhere in the 2000+ pages. (i don’t remember reading that part, and i’m just joking about that part. but i did read every miserable page of that boondoggle)

“They sent me a letter like this when I was already a Private First Class out in the Fleet Marine Force.”

That’s not unusual. My Dad voluntarily joined the Army in 49. After the Korean War kicked off they sent him over. He got his draft notice while he was in his AA position in the mess that was the middle of the Korean War.

He wrote back that he would be unable to appear before the draft board as he was out of the country. Then signed SFC {His Name}, {whatever the name of the place was}, Korea.

He never heard back.

Selective Service isn't going to prosecute anybody's daughter. On the other hand illegals get a whopping big tax exemption in this bill as do their employers.

It would be invidious discrimination to fail to give the same tax exemption to American citizens!

I think we can probably bankrupt the federal government with our demands for refunds.

Absolutely. Why should any of us pay taxes or back taxes anymore? Where is the Equality?

I know they can’t prosecute her for something she isn’t even required to do, but they really upset her last night and this morning and they can try to make life miserable until we all acquiesce for everything the Govt demands.

I looked up the deadline to register...its 30 days after your 18th birthday.

Yeah. When I checked mine, it showed as 34 days after my birthday. I know for a fact I mailed it on time. I think they posted it the day they received it, but for legal purposes, it should bethe day it was postmarked.

This is a legit letter. Went over to read it and look at it. With Girly next to me, placed a call to the oh-so-unhelpful Selective Service agent whom insisted it was my fault, that somewhere down the line, the Department of Education has deduced my girl was a guy. Even though they are insisting my kid prove something she is not required to do by law, they will disrupt her Financial Aid and prosecute (agent said) for her not sending in her Birth Certificate copy within 10 days. My girl just wanted to get it over with, so I made a copy and it’s done. I did ask to speak with a supervisor to make a complaint about their “policy” and despite the agents insistance that they make the “undocumented” send in their “undocumented documents”, this is what the Selective Service is doing to US citizens. No email back from SS re: yesterday and no phone call from my Senator’s office.

End of saga. Thanks to all for the suggestions and I’m following up without involving my girly.
