Overall, ran a fairly decent campaign, could have been stronger, coasted too much toward the end.

He coasted up until the 90 minutes during the first debate and immediately began coasting afterwards for the remainder of the campaign. Did he even do any national media interviews during that last month with conservative or mainstream media outlets? The next candidate might want to try and get their face out there on some free airtime if they're trying to get elected president.

Even with the clear advantage of a successful lifelong economic background on his side... Mittens could not, after six straight years of campaigning, close the sale versus Obama.

Even with the clear advantage of multiple Obama administration foreign policy scandals, such as "Fast and Furious," on his side... Mittens could not, after six straight years of campaigning, close the sale versus Obama.

Even with the clear advantage of innumerable Obama administration corruption scandals on his side... Mittens could not, after six straight years of campaigning, close the sale versus Obama.

Even with a U.S. ambassador brutally butchered scant weeks before the election... Mittens could not, after six straight years of campaigning, close the sale versus Obama.

Mittens could not carry Massachusetts, or Michigan. Ryan could not help him carry Wisconsin.

Romney won, he was the best candidate

System Error. Retry.

This points to my biggest revulsion towards Rove... his going on FoxNews and pretending to be an ‘unbiased’ political analyst while taking massive amounts of money and utilizing his platform to deliberately prop-up or deep-six candidates, according to who fills his wallet.

Yep. Rove is the political equivalent of an arms dealer.

Those here enraptured by the sanctimonious establishment hack Santorum would hear nothing of it. They didn't care about his voting record, his GOPe ties, he had a nice family and was talking their values and they followed him like the Pied Piper. They would travel thread-to-thread in attack mode.

Amen bros, right on the money. The big difference between the Newt supporters and the Santorum supporters - is that the Newt supporters came back to him slowly fully aware of his flaws and his history. As such, there was never a cultish slavish lack of understanding of who we were dealing with. We saw him as the battered warrior, wiser for the successes and failures he had been a part of, like a Churchill - very flawed - but right for the times we are in.

The Santorum sweater vest cultists, on the other hand, saw Rick "take the slings and arrows" and his family out of church picnic central casting, and simply would not hear of his pro union, pro enviro, pro big government history. His over all record was pretty good, but some of his bad votes were on just awful issues. The way the ACU keeps score really is misleading in that regard.

The other thing they wouldn't hear is that in 15 years, when RS is as old as NEwt is now, he will probably have stepped into more doo doo than Newt ever did. That is, if anyone even cares what RS says. Newt's problem is that because he is who he is, every thing he ever says gets recorded.

A loss is a loss. Little or big, it doesn’t matter.

The strategy you are advocating is that we need to stick with people like Romney, who have low negatives and can appeal to swing voters.

That’s a losing strategy. It didn’t work for Romney, McCain or Bob Dole. Since that strategy doesn’t work, let’s stop doing it.

Nobody knows if Gingrich would have lost—it’s all just speculation at this point. What we do know as a fact, is that Romney lost; that when the GOP runs moderate candidates with low negatives they lose—every...single...time.

One single issue killed the GOP’s chances in the senate and WH. The issue was no exceptions on abortion.

So you're saying Scott Brown should've changed his position to pro-choice...oh, wait.

Is that why Romney did better with women than McCain by 2 percentage points?

If 8 million former Obama voters were so gung-ho on abortion, why did they apparently stay home instead of coming out to vote for Obama?

And if you assume that those 8 million actually did switch to Romney, but it was 10 million former McCain voters who stayed home, then we can be sure they didn't stay home because Romney was too pro-life.

Akin's and Mourdock's comments making the media circus had nothing to do with their positions on abortion. It had to do with Akin's theory on a woman's body "shutting down" in rape and Mourdock's comments making it sound like he thought the rape itself was a "gift from God."

Given that I’m now paying for everyone’s contraception, you’d better believe I’ll continue speaking out against the ills of it.

The Bushes were the worst thing to ever happen to the Republican Party,

Yes, and they are hard at work with plans to move Jeb and George P. in to continue what GHWB and W started.

“tiny caucus of weirdo voters”

11 states are a ‘tiny caucus’ of ‘weirdo voters’?

Gosh. I think people cottoned onto the fact that Santorum was an enthusiastic conservative.

As for Newt - you remember his first speech back in 1994 when he became House Majority Leader?

Where he said that the Democrats had it right on race?

Remember that? I sure do.

Surely you heard the recent news about George P., one of Jeb’s sons:

I’m sad to say that I had not heard of that news. Now I’m even sadder to say I have. “Politics are in my blood” - that’s the whole damn problem!

Romney gave us the best chance to win...

How so by being Obama Lite? We conservatives have held our nose twice and voted for a RINO who lost to a lightweight. There ain't gonna be a third time for me.

No one was going to win this thing, not one of the candidates we liked would have done better.

Romney made his share of mistakes, but consider the following:

1. The media.
2. The new demographics of the 47%
3. The corruption already in place from the stimulus to the unions and the Acorn types.

The media reported perfectly good things Romney said as gaffes, and reported the dems as near perfect. They constantly repeated the lie that the economy was getting better, it was Bush's fault anyway, and that even so no one could have done anything. They never. once. reported. Benghazi. Not ever. They never reported on Fast and Furious. Not once. They never reported on the crony capitalism Chicago thug way. Not Once.

The new demographics: How do you win when virtually half the country are now takers? Who do they vote for, Santa Clause, or the guy who wants you to be an entrepreneur and work hard to get the American dream?

The stimulus slush fund paid for all those voters to come out. Free stuff uber alles.

you add to that the stupid purist jack asses who wouldn't vote to take out Bambi, and voila! Loss.

I'm sorry, there is no way anyone in the field, not Newt, not Palin, not Perry, nor Bachmann, not Santorum even gets close considering how the deck was stacked. How in the world would any of them gotten close? Splain please, and it will be easy to show how that same machine would have simply destroyed them, each one.

Romney gave us the best chance to to win because none of the others—Santorum, Gingrich, Perry, Bachmann, et al.—none of them would have come as close as Romney did. The only one who could have done better than Romney was . . . Romney. Which he could have. A little bit. Maybe enough to win. Maybe not.

Oh really?

Maybe you’d prefer it like this:

Iowa
Colorado
Missouri
Minnesota
North Dakota
Louisiana
Kansas
Oklahoma
Tennessee
Alabama
Mississippi

Or like this:

Santorum 3,816,110
Gingrich 2,689,771

Or maybe like this:

Santorum 255 Delegates
Gingrich 147 Delegates.
