GOP didn't capitalize on 10 million less votes for Obama in 2012. What happened to the GOP turnout?

Here is my theory.

After watching the Obamanation on the boob tube for a couple of years, watching giant spending measures, trillions added to the debt, passage of Obamacare, the downgrade of the USA, class warfare, the administration telling one lie after another with a straight face and no one calling them out, nothing but praise for the magic negro...

Many conservatives started tuning out. They started turning off their television sets and started taking their kids to the zoo, playing fetch with the dog, watching old movies, reading classic works of literature, camping, ANYTHING but watching the vomit-inducing scenes played out nightly before them on all things politic.

Those became much better alternatives than having to sadly sit and watch their country fade away or loudly curse at the talking heads.

They never tuned back in. Even when the presidential election rolled around, they paid no notice. Election day came and once civic-minded conservatives just shrugged and whistled a happy little tune as they went to work and thought about their upcoming fishing trip at the lake.

Geez people the GOP got over 55 million votes, there just wasn’t enough of us and if you been paying attention you know the demographics of the country has been changing, more hispanic voters, more women voters and the same old liberal commie voters. Where were all these big mouthed independent voters that alway badmouth the GOP? They voted for Obama again. When Obama finnally has amnesty then we have to deal with all the illegals with their socialist educations leanings, women will vote democrat and most of them vote based on looks and charm not the issues. And I don’t even have to explain about blacks, that is obvious.
Stop badmouthing the GOP and accept the fact that there are not enough conservatives to elect the kind of person we want to see in office.

Hispanics will almost alway vote Democrat, There are fewer white males

"What happened to the GOP turnout?"

I could have sworn they were in line with me at the polling place yesterday. Normally I can vote in five minutes and be out; yesterday the place was mobbed, and I had to wait in line for an hour and a half. Talk radio was full of accounts of historic turnout in red areas.

I'm not getting it. At all.

The GOP got beat because it hates Conservatives and their values, it gave its base a flip-flopping Massachusetts RINO candidate whom they could not support without holding their noses.

This is huge mystery to me if true. I didn’t like Myth in 08 and I didn’t like him in the primaries. But I voted for him. Sitting on the sidelines while the other team is scoring b/c a candidate fails some purity test is just crazy.

The sad fact is that we did not have anyone better than Romney.

We all had our individual favorites. But Herman Cain shot himself in the foot with his past lack of judgement. Rick Perry showed that he was not physically or psychologically prepared for the national stage. Newt Gingrich, more tragically, shot himself in the gut repeatedly with a long series of past bad judgements. Sarah Palin, no matter how lovable she is, is one of the most hated people in the nation and as a beautiful woman would be treated with utter contempt by our enemies. Who else was there? I can’t even remember other contenders right now, and that says something.

Our hope for the short-term future is that in the next four years Paul Ryan, Allen West, or others mature and prepare themselves to step into the spotlight. We have three years to find someone and figure it out.

And if we can’t find anyone to defeat the liberals—a very real possibility, considering the psyche of this nation—we should not despair altogether. In 1940, who could have imagined that the utter, demonic horror of Nazi Germany would end, that it would be burned to the ground, and that it would rise again to become a peaceful and prosperous nation? No one could have envisioned that; only God saw the future. And thus God knows our future, and knows how far we are going to have to fall before we realize our sins and rebuild our country. Our beautiful nation may have to be beaten to a ruin before a few of us raise our heads and start over.

This stat just doesn’t seem real or even possible. I have to wonder if fraud or suppression of military votes or something similar can account for this. Is it because 2 million elderly voters died or become otherwise unable to vote? You are right that this is a huge story. I would like to find out the answer.

I just can’t wait for 2016 when the establishment GOP rolls out their next moderate candidate who’s turn it is to run.

Since Reagan, it has been one establishment GOP moderate after another. They either lose or are a disaster. How’s that “reach across the isle” crap working out for you RINOs?

Even the incumbent RINO GOP House Rep here lost. He was accused in ads of being “Tea Party” so he quickly rolled out a denial of the Tea Party and then spewed his list of liberal stances; gun-grabbing, pro-abortion, amnesty, etc. He probably lost the conservatives in the last week of the campaign.
