All that comes to my mind is Shakespeare's words from Henry VIII, Act III, which John Jay also quoted in Federalist 2:
"Farewell! A long farewell, to all my greatness!"

Thank you for some lucid objectivity this morning, to dilute the existential angst and despair of the formerly credulous.

You are welcome. The key thing today is to recognize situations such as the feral hog trap, the buffalo jump etc, and move to a (relatively) safer area away from herds and traps generally.
The crashup is unavoidable. The key is to not be near any of the ground zeros.

Now it’s time to work on securing our own little patches of sanity.
Get away from all stampeding lemmings and rat floods.

Sail away, Matt while you can. This is no place for free men and women now.

Great read, thanks for the ping!
Matt, are you familiar with this book: Strategic Relocation - Joel Skousen? I was planning to order a copy today, wondering if you have read it, any comments?
Thanks in advance!

This is no place for free men and women now. That one sentence (sadly) sums it up quite well, doesn't it?
I must admit I didn't see this (election) result coming. I seemed to have lulled myself into a bit of false optimism in the past several months, at least to the degree that I thought there were enough fed up Americans that were willing to put this beyond the reach of fraud and manipulation. I guess I was very, very wrong about that. (Not that I had much hope that a different result would do much to change the fundamentals (or undo the damage that has already occurred), perhaps I was hoping for a bit of a “slow down” of sorts to give us a bit more breathing room to complete our maneuvers, so to speak!)
Good to see you Ward, unfortunately on such a grim day. How's the book coming along?
Hoping that you are yours are making the best of each day,
MikeZ

I haven’t read it, but it sounds great. I’m partial to buying a condo in Panama City.

I'll let you know what I think, maybe even attempt to post a “review” of sorts here on FR if warranted. Thanks again.

Oops - I forgot that you’d mentioned the turkey farm in the original post.
“Never mind”.

(Panama, not Florida.) Yeah, I kinda figured that's where you meant. I'm going to see if it is possible to find a “reasonable” place here in the US. My wife is talking about the possibility of actually leaving the country for the first time ever, not sure if I (or her, really) are ready for something that drastic at our early retirement age. If we were younger (and perhaps a bit more “adventurous”), becoming ex-pats would certainly be more readily entertained.

Always thought-provoking (cause to re-examine plans) and educational (was not aware of the "Catastrophe at Smyrna," akin to 1923 post-quake and 1945 post-bombing fires in Tokyo).
And thanks for the re-Ping, missed it the first time around.

Thank you for the ping again. I re-read your parables and conclusions in light of the cheater having stolen the election. I wouldn’t put one perfidious act past him, not a single one.
To: Travis McGee
Thank you this and all future pings. Just thinking I should re-read your trilogy.
Hub and I stayed up late talking and we both agreed the scenario in your trilogy or something like it is probably going to be unfolding in the near future.
