No, it would be a Democrat.
A rocket stove is a small cooking unit that uses twigs and small debris from your yard or whatever to produce a hot cooking heat. Just google it and you will see a bunch of websites that sell them.
And if they figured unemployment the same way when he "arrived" it would have been 6% - while if they figured it the same way today as back then, it would be about 11% 9not counting all the other littel tricks that hide the fact that it's really at least mid-teens.
No...I think that would be a liberal and/or a DIMocRAT.
Is this just Conservative doom-and-gloom fantasy, or does this guy have any credibility?
just fyi it will be deflation on things u own and inflation on things u need. your home value and car and stocks will plummet.
I don’t know; that’s why I Pinged SF_Redux to the thread. He’s got some experience with these things. Maybe he knows if the author has any creds on this.
“...your home value and car and stocks will plummet..”
So it’d be a good time to buy a new SUV? (-;^{O)
Shed the debt, acquire basic necessities, assume there will be a period of up to a year or more wherein you’d rather not rely upon currency.
If your jurisdiction permits it, prepay your property taxes, here you can lock in the current rate and prepay up to five years. That would secure your residence from more grabby governmental excess when they’re really sucking wind on tax receipts.
Befriend your local police authority, become well known in a positive way. If things fall apart for a while, you may end up having la mordita like Mexico for police protection, la mordita is a bribe.
Befriend as many neighbors as you can, create a mutual support and protection network around yourselves.
Take a skills inventory of all in your household and identify those skills that are not just barterable but likely to have some demand in an economic breakdown. Acquire new skills with this thought in mind.
Then, just prepare to ride it out as much as possible, if worse comes to worst. It may not, but things really are pretty bad and have been since late 2007. If we’re lucky we’ll emerge from a depression with our currency and nation intact, but much poorer imho.
Look into the Bio Lite while you’re at it. It takes the rocket stove one better, with thermoelectric cells powered by heat from the fire. Part of it goes to a small fan that aids convection and produces a very clean burn, they think “green,” I think lack of visible smoke and odor.
There’s also a USB power point on the side for charging cell phones, tablets, laptops, GPS, etc. So it seems like a nice thing to have, in the event of power outages. Cooking, warmth and power small portable devices. Around $130.00 I believe. Some serious wilderness campers have critiqued the size and weight, but you wouldn’t be getting it purely for portability concerns. I’m not sure what they’re concerned about, the thing isn’t much bigger than a large water bottle, and weighs less than a full one.
Has to be more then just sand. My guess would be DI resin ? Or maybe some type of crushed Zeolite ? Been running an RODI filter on some Texas tap water. Out of the tap it is 450-500 ppm. My RODI (reverse osmosis and deionization unit) filter it down to about 1 ppm. When you buy filtered water from stores around here, that is filtered as you get it, the ppm is still around 90. It is safe to drink though.
The Zero system brings it down to 0 ppm. But the filters cost about $15 each.
Here’s the instructional video for the Bio Lite camp stove/USB charging device, they’re shipping starting July, waitlisted, price $129.00 plus shipping and any tax that might be applicable.
My PPM readings came from a handheld TDS meter (total dissolved solids). Think it measures conductivity. My RODI unit has a carbon prefilter and two particulate prefilters. If your filter can get 450-500 ppm down to 0 ppm, that has to be more then just sand.
I don’t know what it is but it looks like very fine sand. Our water system is lousy. Our glasses look like there’s scum in the bottom and you can’t get it off with sandpaper. That’s from running them in the dishwasher and using stuff to stop it doesn’t work very well. The water is so bad we buy ice. Ice from the fridge stinks. The Zero filter does the trick. The drinking water from Zero tastes delicious.
By the looks of it, the filters will not last long in Texas. Up to 15 gallons per filter. My RODI unit just cranked out over 600 gallons the past 2-3 weeks. Use the water for my business.
We get a little better than 15 gallons per filter. It comes down to about 75 cents a gallon and that’s cheaper than buying it.
I’m north of Houston in a Municipal Water District.
How much does this system you have costs?
