Our Pastor said (several elections ago):
“God give us the President you want for us; not the one we deserve.”

Would not voting against Obama be comparable to the servant who hid away the money rather than investing it?

I believe we do have a responsibility to use our God given talents and what God gave me tells me to do my best to retire Obama.

Even if you could make the argument that Mitt is just as bad (I believe you would fail); Mitt will still be beholden to the interests that elected him, same as Obama.

Think about it, How could God look at it as a sin to vote against Obama?

“If you are a Christian and believe otherwise, how did you come to your conclusion based on scripture and reason?”

Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s
And unto God what is God’s.

And vote the commies out...

The most ridiculous concept ever perpetrated by H.Sapiens is that the Lord God of Creation, Shaper and Ruler of the Universes, wants the sacharrine adoration of his creations, that he can be persuaded by their prayers, and becomes petulant if he does not recieve this flattery. Yet this ridiculous notion, without one real shred of evidence to bolster it, has gone on to found one of the oldest, largest and least productive industries in history. [Robert Heinlein]

Heinlein claimed to be a methodist, and I'm not sure that I'd take an excerpt from one of his science fiction books as indicative of what he believed.

At any rate, the above statement is a distortion of Christian beliefs. God doesn't want the "sacharrine adoration" of his creations. He wants our companionship. He wants an intimate relationship with each of us. That's why we were created.

That he can be persuaded by our prayers, reflects that for whatever reason, He does want a relationship with us. Some view God having created the heavens, as too big to want to deal with man. But He is so big, that He can deal with man, and the universe at the same time. I think that's cool.

God doesn't become "petulant" if he doesn't receive our flattery. He does become rather indignant and angry when we perform acts of evil towards our fellow man. He is after all a God of love and justice. Worship is more for our benefit that God's. And as Jesus said, "Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, [and] to keep himself unspotted from the world."

Again Jesus said, "Love the Lord God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself" contains the entire law. I find no flaw in this command to love. People can twist it however they want. But I find this to be the ultimate moral code. Far higher than any other religion.

I think it's a wonderfully neat thing that the Creator of the Universe still wants to be my "friend", my "brother", my "father", and yes my "God".

So I guess we will just have to dissagree. But I hope that you don't let the ridicule of a science fiction writer, or atheists or anyone else, cause you to miss out on that relationship.

LIke most protestants you have a very shallow and limited knowledge of these matters. You should go and educate yourself with some study of reformation theology, with especial emphasis on the Two Kingdoms doctrine deriving from Scripture. Right now you're not making any sense.

From Romans Ch 1.

32 “Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.”

I think that about says it all. God is very ticked at that last group. If you vote for Romney then you are supporting extremely ungodly acts. If you do that then you are as guilty as those committing the acts. You are in fact sinning against God in a very grave way. You are called to defend Gods law. Not vote against it.

And you want to know why we are in this boat today. Because Christians rolled over and played dead starting a long time ago. Satin and his minions don’t play dead. They keep on attacking until there is nothing holy left. Take a stand by not voting for evil.

And by not voting for Romney, you indirectly vote for Obama and help the Obamanation of Desolation win. I don't want that evil hanging over me when I face my Creator.

“Second, in a two party system any failure to vote for the least offensive candidate is mathematically equivalent to half a vote for the most offensive candidate. By refusing to vote for Mitt Romney (as is your right) you will have essentially voted for Barak Obama.”

So lets see here. By refusing to vote for Obama then you have essentially already voted for Mitt Romney. That is according to your kind of math.

Well first off if you're not a Christian don't bother reading any further. This does not apply to you and your comments/scoffs) are not solicited. Leave now.

How does one respond to people of the land like you?

So in your view, doing nothing or making a throwaway vote and effectively aiding the greater evil to descend upon the nation is more virtuous than voting for the lesser of the evils? The reality is that this election is between two men, and if you’re eligible to vote you’re going to be partly responsible for one of them taking office next January, no matter what you tell yourself. The fringe candidates have no chance—no chance at all—and will only steal votes from one or the other of the two real contenders.

Seems to be a lot of energy expended on my one vote ... sorry, my mind is made up. Let the chips fall were they may. If Obama wins, blame my one vote. After all God is still in charge.

Do you support God or do you support a system that has attempted to force you to support one of two candidates who are against Gods law. This may be a test. You have to choose.
One thing is for sure. If you support either one, then your choices are never going to get any better. Guess how it came down to these two choices.

Thank you, couldn't agree more.

So very few responses with scriptural basis tonight.

I can only conclude that people are bible illiterate and or just have not really thought these things through.

I will certainly be voting this Nov but just not for Mitt. It would be immoral for me to do so based on what his record clearly shows he stands for.

The responses are all over the place but very few are based on scripture and reason together. Mostly emotion and bluster.

Not encouraging.

“2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.”

So according to your interpretation of that scripture then the guy who turned on the gas and killed a room full Jews is not only- not guilty of anything, but is in fact committing a holy act by obeying Authority.

If you want to vote for a sinless candidate you are about 2000 years late. I’ve got bad news for you, if you ever step into a voting booth again, you will be voting for a sinner.

If you give up voting for sinners, maybe you should also give up eating, as you are supporting sinners with your money. Seriously, hold your nose and vote for the candidate that will cause less harm.

I know what you mean. A little rational thought goes a long way in understanding Scripture. God does not want to destroy himself. And God does not want to promote evil. Those are for starters. Glad, if I was of help.

So by not voting for Obama, Romney gets 1/2 of a vote and by not voting for Romney, Obama gets 1/2 of a vote. In other words, neither of them gets an advantage. Funny how that works. I guess common sense just trumped all this advanced mathematics of how a non-vote for Romney is somehow a vote for Obama.

Well, unless you're planning an armed insurrection against the current system, then I guess you are supporting the system too.The system isn't going to be changed by one election. It will take a generation to repair, if that's even possible at this point.

Is your not voting for Romney, and thereby indirectly voting for Obama, somehow going to change the system?

In the meantime, God has provided us only two candidates who can win in November. He will expect you to vote for the lesser of two evils.

And, by the way, since Jesus himself is not a candidate, then your only options for presidential candidates have always been fallen, sinful men. Based on your previous statement that the sins of those you vote for will be counted against you, then I imagine you have never voted for anyone.

Finally, you never even bothered (sigh) to address my point that not voting for Romney is the equivalent of a vote for Obama. You really think our Father is going to smile down upon you for helping an even more ungodly man than Obama win the White House?

Yes you will answer to Jesus. We all will.

Well, brother, we can agree on that.

Ronald Reagan was a sinner. But he was not against God. He did not stand up and call evil Good, and Good- evil as your current candidates do. You try to compare the two. It is a phony comparison. Because the difference is in the heart. And your current candidates cross the line into supporting the most vile acts as defined in scripture. Fool yourself if you want to- that you are simply voting for a sinner. But the truth is that you are voting for a whole lot more than that. You are voting for a leader that is actively campaigning against God. And even being deceitful in doing it.
