Rick is toast. He keeps promising to get into every aspect of peoples lives; things that conservatives, libertarians, independents and “ordinary” Americans do not appreciate. Leave us alone!
Does it say that Santorum himself said that he would do this?
Or is this another straw man argument that says that since the laws exist, Santorum would do this.
The economy is being destroyed. Obama’s energy policy is a disaster. The government is going bankrupt.
There is plenty for Santorum to discuss. There are real problems our country is facing. Why is Santorum wasting his time talking about this nonsense? It is a distraction.
Newt has done an excellent job articulating the failure of Obama’s energy policy. The Secretary of Energy was recently forced to do do a 180 degree turn and say he no longer wants gas prices to rise to European levels($8 to $10 per gallon.)
Obama is making a fool out of himself. Someone needs to articulate the economic issues, the regulatory issues and the energy issues. If a Republican can do that he will win.
If a Republican gets distracted and wastes his time talking about Internet porn he will get killed in the election.
It will go about as well as Tipper Gore's attempt to regulate lyrics and content of popular music.
I applaud Rick Santorum for taking a moral stand on the plague of pornography that has infested and infected the minds of millions of Americans.
For the naysayers, by all means tell us the benefits to society of the flood of porn that has turned this nation into one gigantic x-rated website?
Those squawking in indignation about Santorum proclaiming this stand ought to consider getting their asses to church this Sunday. A God fearing, Jesus loving, Bible believing church.
I am definitely NOT a Santorum supporter, but there’s nothing wrong with his stand against internet porn. I’m wondering why this is being talked about now. Did someone ask him about this?
What folks are not grasping is the concept that the economy is in the shape it's in because we have turned away from the God who founded and blessed this nation.
"Just give me back my 401K and take your hands off my porn, my whore, my ovaries, and my drug habits!" is what I hear people saying.
But God has said from the very beginning, "Seek Me and live!"
People get ready, there's a train a'comin!
Geez people. I don’t remember outrage here at FR when the porn with chicks in high heels stepping on snails was made illegal, a couple years ago, even when there was no law prohibiting it. Rick is just talking about existing laws on the books that no one is bothering to enforce.
I don’t know. I don’t even see a date on the statement, so I can’t confirm when exactly it came out. Must have been recent because the tweet count was still low.
The bottom line behind all of this was his promise to enforce laws on the book by appointing an Attorney General who would uphold the law (i.e. Not Eric Holder).
Good luck.
Sure, just like we saw in Mississippi and Alabama, huh? That would explain why he's doing so poorly against Newt. /sarcasm
I always question the objectivity of anything coming from the DC.
Here's an idea for Romney and his pals at the DC, why not play up Romney as the pro Internet porn candidate?
It’s laudable that people are still interested in basic constitutional principles rather than usurpations based on their personal beliefs. It happens so rarely that it’s comforting even if it is about porn.
—The GOP electorate is killing this country by supporting this fascist dweeb.—
That right there is a genuine opinion you got.
the Romney camp took your advice. They just released the following video in response to Santroum’s promise to enforce laws on the books.

No, what we’re saying is that you nor Rick Santorum are God and God is not running for President nor is He asking us to elect a national pastor. You are confusing the role of President with the role of a free people. If you need Pastor Santorum as President to keep yourself from watching porn, I feel sorry for you.
I don’t. And besides, saying this kind of thing will give us Obama.
No.
How about you cite the Article and Section of the US Constitution that makes this an issue for the federal government.
While you're looking for that section, let me cite this one:
Amendment X The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
I am not a supporter of Santorum. I’m scratching my head over why he’s focusing on this instead of, oh, I dunno, the country going bankrupt.
But I think it’s folks like you who forget their history. The obscenity laws were and have been on the books for centuries. CENTURIES.
If you think banning obscenity is the equivalent of the Inquisition, then I’d have to agree with some other folks here....we are definitely too far gone to save.
You look up the America the Founding Fathers gave us. You tell me whether they gave carte blanche to the production and dissemination of obscene materials in this Republic.
