You are aware that all the gasoline to your town probably arrives by 1 or 2 pipelines to a distribution hub where the various companies mix in their special additive blend and haul it to the retailer?

Normally, my family and I would take a 90 mile trip to a bigger town because of a better availability of products we need, but with gas what it is, we’ve decided to got a smaller town, half the distant. Doesn’t have everything we need, but enough. So, I think everyone is making the same decision. Drive less, conserve fuel.

Every day I plot my drive time and distance to be the most efficient. My poor children, when I drop them off, I drop them off on the other side of the school so I don’t have to drive all the way around like I use to. Now they actually have to WALK! GASP!

“Just bought a “light truck” (RAM 1500 Hemi) that burns a ton of gas”

You know what? I just bought a used one of those (2009) with the 3.7 six cylinder engine.

THEN I found out that your Hemi gets the SAME mileage as the 3.7 liter six!

In truth, your truck isn’t so bad on gas. Well, for a truck.

LOL

"Government’s solution: Raise fuel taxes to make up for the “loss” in revenue."

Funny, that's exactly what the taxing authorities (cities, school districts, etc) here in SW Idaho are doing...property values are down, so they want us to vote to allow them to hike out taxes to make up for their loss of revenue! The spokesman for Comrade Dave Bieter, the mayor of Boise, rationalizes it by saying don't worry, we won't actually pay more in taxes, because our property is worth less. Yeah...so goes the entitled government mindset.

Consumption is dropping because people don’t have a damn job and aren’t driving to work. Thanks Obama...

“Scooters that up to then had been derided as “deweycycles” due to being used by poor DUI convictions primarily,...”

In order to uphold the consistently high standards of Free Republic, please use proper nomenclature for these (< 50cc) small scooters!

They are called....
“Likker-Sickles”

(at least over here in WNC!)

:-)

[Mrs BN starts a weekend class at the local Comm College on Mar 2nd to get her “motorcycle” endorsement on her drivers license so she can get a scooter with an engine larger than 50cc.... I always wanted to date a “biker chick”. ;-) ]

Forgot to add, Mrs BN doesn’t drink. The scooter is to save on gas money.

Why you may ask? Just look at the millions of people who have stopped looking for work...they can’t afford the gas to hit the pavement.

While I admire the catchy alliteration of the far-western NC term, here it most certainly is dewey-cycle, with “cycle” being pronounced “sickle” as in your phonetically spelled example.

There's room for both. I appreciate the rich tapestry of inventive regional speech, lol.

Last sentence. Did you actually mean “INTENDED consequences”?

I didn't, but perhaps I should have done....:^)

You should come and join us on the FR state forum for NC, it’s by far and away the most active one here.

50m+ people are on food stamps.

20% unemployment

that curve traces unemployment perfectly

Yep, it’s amazing how increased costs of gasoline and millions of discouraged Americans “leaving the labor force” and no longer going out in search of work can result in substantial drop in demand. To say nothing of how it can also make the “unemployment rate” APPEAR to be plummeting (thanks to Obama’s Bureau of Labor Statistics and their manipulation of the data).

Millions of people aren’t working anymore. No driving to work, there is no work to drive to. Others have cut down travel in general.

GAS WAS $1.85 per gallon on the day Obama was Inaugurated! - - freeper Gaffer (my tag)

When a Republican's elected President, the MSM will rediscover outrage over high gas prices...
