Wise move, and thank you.

Newt is a big step in the right direction and will fight hard to get our course changed. If he disappoints we'll fire his butt in the next election.

Above all else, Romney must go down, he is the Benedict Arnold of 2012 !

I hope Santorum and Paul supporters bite the bullet in Florida and vote to keep Romney out. That means supporting Gingrich as you did, OP!

That's exactly what I've been praying would happen today as Santorum and Paul supporters entered the voting booths, along with undecided voters.

It's the strategically smart move right now.

By the time of the RNC convention I would rather have the choice of “Newt vs. Santorum” vs. an already crowned Romney.

Or the choice between “Romney vs. Newt”

Our final Pollster Fl primary update: Mitt 42.3, Newt 29.0, Santo 11.9, Paul 11.1

[ My wife and I like Rick Santorum but we also felt a vote for Rick is a vote for Mitt. We voted for Newt!! ]

Thank you! i am partial to Newt at the Moment ( I also like Santorum) , but I would rather have to choose between Santorum and Newt than Romney and Newt, if we can take out Romney then we will have a better choice to make between Santorum and Newt.

Thought this from the Washington Post’s Dana Milbank was rather funny!

Newt Gingrich is losing his press contingent:

“As crowds thin and poll numbers drop, the press corps following him has begun to dissolve. As he took off Monday on his campaign plane — a 737 supposedly used by the Miami Heat and operated by Moby Dick Airways — he was without a media contingent.

After reporters refused to shell out more than $2,000 apiece over the weekend to fly on the Gingrich plane for a single event, the campaign punished them by canceling press charters.

To try to keep up with Gingrich, a few reporters chartered their own turbo-prop, while 20 others missed half of the candidate’s events while chasing him across Florida by bus.”

Newt’s NOT paying for Media travel, and free reporter food. And man, are they P**sed at him for it!

I was fuming by the time I left for the polls at 7:40. I had switched between the local news channels and all they were doing was pushing the "widening" lead between Romney and Gingrich. When it switched to commercial, they played Mitt's commercials. It was complete saturation by Romney and it really pi$$Ed me off.

I don't know if it was a sign of things but there was a woman who came in after me who was loudly saying, "I'm NOT a democrat! I voted republican last election and I haven't changed my designation.". She was asked if she was registered as a republican and she said, "yes, I didn't mean that I voted for republicans, I mean that I am republican!". Apparently, somehow, her designation had been changed.

I've worked the polls here and it's a very small town. The election Supervisor is a great gal and runs a tight ship. I just wonder if some "community organizer" did this.

What Romney did at the villages — think “sore winner!” Romney doesn’t win (or think he is winning) graciously. Disgusting!

I wonder too if there is some funny stuff going on with voter registration. Our caucus is Saturday (Nevada) and I never heard anything from the republican party where the caucus is supposed to meet. I find myself wondering if the mormon faction in the GOP is making sure that only mormons know where to caucus. (I have a becoming new hat made of the best aluminum foil you can get.)

Thank you. Sincerely. Most sincerely.

You did the right thing. Not just the right thing, but the honorable thing.

If only more Santorum supporters would see it your way. It's not that anyone is saying Santorum isn't a good guy, and that he isn't worthy of your vote — it's that the facts tell us he doesn't have enough votes to win, and therefore, votes for Santorum are diluting the “anyone but Romney” vote, which will result in Romney winning with only 25% of the vote (in some cases).

So THANK YOU. I'm sorry your candidate didn't have the votes. I know it's hard to switch allegiance to a “second choice” or even a third choice. But you did the right thing, and hopefully tens of thousands of Santorum supporters will see it your way as well today.

I don't think Santorum needs to drop out yet. But I do think he should have recognized that he could not win Florida, so I wish he would have sincerely asked his Florida supporters to vote for Gingrich today, simply to ensure that Romney doesn't get the delegates.

Then live to fight another day, in the next state.

Bless you, and thank you. :-)

I hope you call all of your fellow Santorum supporters and sincerely ask them to do the same, and explain your reasoning.

Thank you again. You did the right, and honorable thing.

I think prior to 2008, the foil hat would have been appropriate but since then, all bets are off. We now know beyond the shadow of a doubt, that both parties play dirty pool against the voters.

It would be nice to eliminate Romney and leave it open to Santorum and Newt to duke it out. That would make for a much better debate

I finally saw the reports on romney at the villages. They said he had hundreds there. Didn’t look like all that many. Newt had over 4,000 on Sunday.
