I’m definitely NOT supporting Romney. And Newt is certainly a better choice than that RINO. However, Newt is a Big Gov’t progressive conservative whose hero is FDR. He has said it many times. That is not who I want to represent my conservative values.
I will continue to support the more conservative Santorum. If he loses to Newt, so be it. I will support Newt. But right now, Santorum is still in the race and will get my support.
“Sorry, but a man who wont keep his Wedding Vows wont honor the Oath of Office either. Peddle that cheating, lying whoremonger somewhere else, I didnt vote for Clinton and Im not voting for his Republican twin either.”
Well said. I remember a 60 Minutes interview where Bill and Hillary talked about having had “problems” in their marriage, but that was all over with. Bubba is elected and drip, drip, drip...here comes the dirt. Monica Lewinsky, anyone?
Newt says he has changed and only he knows if that is the truth. However, he is a proven liar. Just ask his ex-wives, children, and girlfriends. You don’t think he would not lie to you? Character was supposed to matter with Clinton, but all of a sudden, it doesn’t matter anymore with Newt? This issue makes all conservatives who support Newt look like hypocrites and if you don’t think the MSM and the libs will not jump on that like a duck on a junebug, you are sadly mistaken.
So, what has Romney suggested to get people back to work? Romneycare? ...or maybe cap and trade?
Thank you for your honest post. Santorum is a good and decent man. I think he would be good in Newt’s administration...But I implore you to please reconsider, and vote for Newt. A vote for Santorum is two votes for Romney.
If you haven’t watched the Cocoa, FL meeting please watch it. Newt talks about the Space Program and the fire that’s in the American soul by our nature.
Lastly, I guarantee you that Tea Partiers will NOT let Newt dissapoint them. It will be a great marriage.
Also, I see Newt getting the best people involved as Reagan did.
They all say pretty much the same thing.
Better question is, of the two likely nominees, which one will Americans believe will follow through. Newt.
But I expect to hear you complain the loudest, when Obama takes it away from Romney in the general. And those of us who have a brain, will remember your “principled” convoluted method for political suicide. And your kind will effect us all, as well as the suffering we all face in the years ahead.
Wait a minute, isn't that what FR is all about? After all, we're being told that if Newt can't be the candidate to allow Obama to have it.
Some people want to control everyone else's principles.
Before anyone jumps on me being a Romney supporter, I'm done voting and frankly, don't give a darned which one of these is the nominee. I'm a sore loser.
My guy, Perry lost so to heck with everyone else.
Your thread has no honor.
The only voters who can affect the decision of who is the nominee right now are Floridians...and it may well be that whoever wins Florida will go on to be the GOP candidate and run against Hussein in the general.
I liked Cain and Perry too....
You can read any of my past posts: I have ALWAYS despised Romeny. Even 4 years ago, when a lot of you guys were really pushing him.
If you honestly think Newt is the only person who can beat Obama, you are going to be sadly disappointed. He doesn’t just have baggage, he has a ship load of steamer trunks. What is convoluted is the lack of principles from those of you who are willing to jettison conservatism for Newt Gingrich’s Big Govt policies just because he took on John King. Uh, which he later admitted part of that stance turned out not to be true.
I will support Newt if he is the nominee. Right now, I will support Santorum who is the real conservative left in this race. Sorry if you think “politics over principles” is more important.
I am willing to be practical and vote for Newt if I think it will help him actually win the state. Florida is winner take all when it comes to delegates. Newt needs a real victory not a symbolic one. Santorum has no real chance for a real victory in Florida, but if he gets 18 to 20%, his campaign may survive and he may be able to raise some more money.
If Santorum surges to 18 to 20% in the polls by Tuesday, I will vote for him. I’d like to reward him for his good debate performace and see if he can pick up momentum. If not, then it will be Newt since he will likely be within striking distance of Romney.
This is not a good primary. I think most people know that. I imagine 75% of Newt supporters previously supported someone else: Palin, Bachman, Perry, and/or Cain.
I liked Cain, too, MM.
I’m with JIm Rob about Palin, also. She was my number one pick. Dang it!
To do his taxes.
I see a lot of articles today that the hall was packed with Romney supporters.
I agree that you should not compromise your vote.
Voting for Romney because you think he can beat Obama is a compromise if you don’t agree with his positions which 99% of you don’t (and the vast majority of you don’t believe that he can beat him either!).
Voting for Gringrich because you think he can beat Obama is a compromise if you don’t agree with his positions (and 99% of you don’t agree with most of his positions, i.e. healthcare mandate, global warming, big government, views on FDR, etc. and problem with keeping his marriage vows (if you want out of your marriage, get separated BEFORE you start fooling around... I’m glad he is right with G—, but I can’t see in his heart like the Lord can, so I don’t know if he is being honest about repenting)
If everyone who is voting for Gingrich primarily because they think he can beat Obama would switch to Rick Santorum (whom I truly believe most of you agree with most of his positions, and he has been from all appearances, a good and faithful husband and father) then Santorum would beat Romney and then beat Obama.
I’ve been a member of this board for over a decade and don’t understand the hatred displayed by many against Santorum, who seems to be a good guy, a true conservative (not perfect, but a better record than Gingrich), and showed that he can debate well on a consistent basis.
Florida Freepers, given that Gingrich appears to be fading in Florida (behind Romney 7% RCP, and trending down while Romney is trending up), give another look at Santorum. It is not too late.
What if Santorum takes votes away from Romney?
I like him. :-)
Rick's biggest problem is something no one can help him with. He is not charismatic. Newt is, Mitt is so-so, but the camera likes him, and Hussein would mop the floor with Rick in that department.
I think Santorum could beat Obama in a debate. It wouldn’t just be Santorum, or Santorum and charisma, but rather Santorum standing on constitutional conservative principles who would beat Obama. The Santorum we saw last night would beat Obama.
