A few thoughts to consider

1. GOP primary voters nominated Sharron Angle and Christine O’Donnell last year, as well as conservative winners like Rand Paul. The tea party vote went coast to coast.

None of those people were expected to win.

It’s hard to see that same primary electorate nominating Gov. Mitt Romney.

2. Gov. Sarah Palin is almost certain to run, for multiple reasons.

Those reasons include her forthcoming house purchase in Arizona, now confirmed by the Palin camp for an asking price of $1.6 million, complete with acreage and a security fence, close to the Phoenix international airport, and set for closing ... in the next month.

It would be an amazing coincidence if she were buying such a house in the very month she chose not to announce a candidacy. Her camp disclosed back in 2010 that she would base any campaign in a home near the action.

3. As for Rep. Michele Bachmann, I suspect few conservatives realize how thin her resume is, and the fact that with a few terms in the House and no executive experience, she is basically wholly unqualified.

She made a name for herself pushing conservative buttons by calling the president a gangster on the Hannity show. She’s not the brightest member of congress — witness her gaffes over Concord and John Wayne.

Mostly, her ascent is egged on by cynical liberals and anti-Palin Fox figures like Charles Krauthammer. Conservatives like having a figure who isn’t mocked every night on the Leno monologue or Letterman top ten list.

It can’t possibly last.

4. That brings us to Gov. Pawlenty.

His plunge is the best news Team Palin could possibly have, because he’s the last bridge building compromise candidate — a human good ship Rachel standing between the Ahab/Great Whale throw down (Palin vs. Romney).

5. As for Palin vs. Obama, I am old enough to remember all the smart liberals, smart centrists, and smart Republicans ready to make a really intelligent vote for John Anderson.

Most of them broke late for Bonzo Ronnie instead.

Could happen again.

Bachmann has executive experience. It’s just that it’s in the private sector, not government. Does it still count?

Also, as far as “bright” goes, we would do well to remember that Carter, with an IQ of 156, was the “brightest” president we’ve ever had... Just sayin’!

Where did that figure come from? I worked for him and I didn’t notice it. Mine is higher than that, but so what? President Reagan was a better decision maker and could delegate much more easily.

Let's see, where did I see that? Here's one source FWIW. Others claim it was much higher!

Reagan was most certainly a more effective leader. Goes to show that there are many intelligences.

How are you doing? Hoping you are feeling better! Your country still needs your IQ! :-)

But I thought BHO was the smartest man alive, much less president!! LOL Went to a MENSA meeting once and decided not to join. Feet are killing me, but I’m keeping on with it.

What private sector executive experience does she have? I know she was some sort of tax attorney, but that’s not really executive.

Well, she presides over a very large line of N- and HO- scale model railroading trains and accessories... Wait, wrong Bachmann...

:)

The polls were national polls. Zogby who tends to lean heavily democratic party has nothing to gain from showing obama at such a large loss. Since they are showing 56% wanting obama out with 6% unsure, and 38% trying to stay with him, the “internal” numbers must be much worst!

Zogby’s polls were right on their front page yesterday. They also tried to minimize the damage to Romney. Their poll of over 1000 GOP Primary likely voters showed a huge gain of over 10 points nationally moving her so far ahead of Romney. This was so bad, zogby had to add that “IF” Rick Perry “AND” Sarah Palin got in, Romney would make a comeback.

Unfortunately Zogby won’t give us ALL THE POLL DATA, only what they are allowing us to see for now!

All the zogby polls are hyperlinked in the news story and just provided an additional footnote with links directly from Zogby showing the data they will allow us to see for now!
