George Will does not consider that if it were impossible to find employment in America, they would leave under their own accord. The other requirement to end the illegals is to seal the border with boots on the ground. Once they leave, they will have to stay there.

Here’s how you do it Georgie boy. You make it illegal for employers to hire them. You stop any kind of welfare benefits to non-Americans. You demand a voter I.D. for them to vote. You do not count illegals in our national census. You do not allow illegals into our schools. You put a massive fee on all money being sent “home” from Los Estados Unidos. YOU MAKE ENGLISH THE NATIONAL LANGUAGE and stop all this multicultural language crap. If they can’t speak English, tough! You do this and you won’t have to deport them. They’ll go the hell home on their own.

The Globalist do not want the borders closed. Our current President and our representatives no longer care what the American people want. They would prefer to watch this country be eroded away by the worthless third world thieves that have come here to pillage what remains of this country's wealth.

They are not illegal aliens, they are documented citizens of a country other then the U.S.A., which makes them foreign nationals who have illegally crossed the border into the U.S.A. Their children born in the U.S.A. should be foreign citizens born in the borders of the U.S.A., not American citizens because the parents did apply to immigrate or to become citizens. After all, the children of Americans born abroad are still American citizens they are classified as American citizens born abroad rather then natural born in the land of their parents’ citizenship. It is totally irrational for a child not to have the same citizenship as the parents which in some cases would be dual citizenship until the child is old enough to choose one over the other. It seems cruel, invasive and imperialistic to separate a child citizenship-wise from the parents, it seems completely unnatural. After all who your parents are by birth or adoption is permanent while where you are born is transient, especially in this day and age.

We don't need to deport "all" illegals to improve our economy. First, if we make it much harder to work here, many will self-deport, those who want to work will go home on their own. Second, if we deport a significant fraction of those who are here illegally, and permanently bar illegals from any path to citizenship or legal entry (take their fingerprints before deporting, and permanently deny them re-entry and citizenship), many will self-deport before facing that penalty. Finally, if we make the legal immigration path genuinely work, there will be no incentive to do it illegally, and the real problems (terrorists, known criminals, and others) will stand out as the only ones with a reason to cross illegally, and our Border Patrol will have the resources to deal with this much smaller volume more effectively.

Will is right - we can't deport them all. He's wrong though in his implication (I assume he is doing this intentionally) that there is no point in trying to control illegal immigration. George Will was once a great writer and a proficient thinker; it's sad how far he has fallen.

Using Will's logic, any crime that's prevalent in our society we might as well just legalize.

If we seal the border, stop the giveaways and enforce the laws on the books, the illegal immigrant issue will take care of itself.

I wonder what this nations economy would look like if these 20-30 million illegals weren't here? Instead, both Republicans and Democrats promote the illegal population for one thing and one thing only, current and future votes.

It makes me sick when I see our elected politicians concerned about political power rather than the legal citizens they're supposed to represent.

I can’t stand Will but he’s right. Put 100 illegal Mexicans on buses. How many busses would it take to transport them across the border. And how many troops would have to be on the border to make sure those millions don’t come back across. I know I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near the border when their put off the bus. And I don’t know what the answer is.

Attrition thru enforcement works. Will is an idiot when it comes to immigration. He is a pro-amnesty advocate who offers the phony choice between mass deportation and a blanket amnesty. We tried an amnesty in 1986. It doesn’t work.

Let’s start with the illegal immigrant at the top.
We’ll even give him choice, that’s how pro-choice we are:
Kenya or Indonesia!

Will should stick to rhapsodising about baseball. He’s completely out of touch with the national political mood.

Remember the Lesson of the Sand Dollar
Man to a boy tossing beached sand dollars back into the ocean, "Why do you bother to throw them back into the sea? There are millions of them, so you can't possibly make a difference?"
Boy, throwing back yet another, "It made a difference to that one."

Same goes for immigration, Georgie. Just deport them one at a time, please, and you've made a difference.

By the same faulty logic, you cannot prosecute all tax evaders, so why prosecute any?

The States are proving that if you pass laws that remove their incentive for staying, they will self deport.

Just why would we never tolerate police measures necessary to remove them? It does not require anything other than using the same necessary force to deal with other criminals. In fact most could be removed by strict enforcement or the law.

Get the IRS involved and punish those who hire illegals.

I already know it is no problem to stop them coming in. I saw an interview with Harlon Carter back in the 60’s when he was head of the border patrol. He said stopping them from entering was no problem. He said just give him the resources and he would stop it cold. He also gave the impression that it was not all that much more, just having the right attitude.

When they can’t get government benefits and free healthcare and automatic citizenship (which the constitution clearly does not do), they will leave on their own. Those who don’t should be hounded.

Try the Rush Limbaugh solution.
Begin deporting 3% of them and see how this works

If illegal alien employment laws were ever effectively enforced - the illegal aliens would self-deport over a number of years as employment dries up... Then if Federal and State benefits given to illegal aliens were denied - even more illegal aliens would self-deport... Add to these types of efforts - a stimulus payment to ‘GO HOME’ and travel assistance and Get out of the Country - without going to jail CARD and the illegal alien problem in the USA would drop by 80 percent in less than five years... BUT - we have Democrats who want VOTERS and Republicans who want CHEAPER Labor for their business buddies... so we let the whole mess FESTER into a BIG OLD BOIL ... not just a pimple

If you Will-haters out there would drop down 11 threads and see the article concerning the 16 democrat Senators who oppose their State Voter ID laws, getting on their case would be much more helpful than telling us all that G. Will is some kind of commie sell-out.

There’s no need to deport most of them. Just cut off all the benefits, freebies, and the legal protections that are rightfully due only to citizens, and most of them will go home on their own.

Deport one million.
Lock up another million.

The rest will get the frickin' hint.
