The conspiracy theorist in me would speculate that the best reason for not releasing a real birth certificate is to allow the controversy and speculation to continue. Enlist the media to paint "birthers" as fringe elements, radicals, and kooks. Then, sit back and laugh as conservative politicians have to take a stand on one side or the other. Either be labeled as a traitor by your base, or as a wing-nut by the general public.
Just ask the obama kookaid drinkers:
1. What hospital was he born at?
2. What doctor delivered him?

You are not telling the truth. A COLB is not a birth certificate under Hawaii law. It was not in 1961 and is not now. Until this controversy arose and Hawaii officials grew interested in backpedalling, a COLB was not even accepted by Hawaii itself for important purposes. Sun Yat Sen obtained a similar document for himself and he was clearly not born in Hawaii not that that is necessarily the ultimately deciding point anyway.
Rahm is still on the job.
