I expect the media to admit something is wrong about the same time they admit Alger Hiss was a spy.

It takes 67 votes in the Senate to remove a president from office. Until the 2012 election there will continue to be 47 Republicans in the Senate, so it would take 20 Democratic Senators to join with the 47 Republicans to convict Obama and remove him from office. Obama would need to be reelected first in order to be impeached, convicted and removed from office by the next Senate.

The decision of this case also renders to the states constitutional authority to define “natural born”. Per the congressional records of those that authored the bills (Bingham & Trumbull), the new state election laws requiring proof of citizenship for presidential candidates would be deemed constitutional rather than in conflict with it. That the states are not usurping federal power or authority in this matter.

That’s the old fashioned way of getting rid of a president...fire his azz.
Rather than 67 people removing him, how about 70 million?

what has Leo said about the Wong Kim Ark case?

Born of Chinese parents. Born in the U.S.

” ... that said Wong Kim Ark has not, either by himself or his parents acting [p705] for him, ever renounced his allegiance to the United States, and that he has never done or committed any act or thing to exclude him therefrom.

The evident intention, and the necessary effect, of the submission of this case to the decision of the court upon the facts agreed by the parties were to present for determination the single question stated at the beginning of this opinion, namely, whether a child born in the United States, of parent of Chinese descent, who, at the time of his birth, are subjects of the Emperor of China, but have a permanent domicil and residence in the United States, and are there carrying on business, and are not employed in any diplomatic or official capacity under the Emperor of China, becomes at the time of his birth a citizen of the United States. For the reasons above stated, this court is of opinion that the question must be answered in the affirmative.”

If 70 mill or so Americans marched on Washington, the UN would use the “Responsibility to Protect” (R2P) concept that is used right now in Libya. ObommieDaCommie would beg for them to save his scrawny azz.

Justice Scalia claims that his method is originalism, or the reliance on the plain meaning of the text. One argument he makes is that testimony on the legislative floor is often added into the Congressional Record even if it had not been spoken (or challenged). I would think that an originalist would be willing to look at certain citations (e.g., Vattel) to support his argument. However, he would try to focus on the literal meaning of the text, rather than the testimony of people who DiNofrio cites.

Just a question to ponder.

“I expect the media to admit something is wrong about the same time they admit Alger Hiss was a spy.”

This NYT book review pretty much says Hiss was a spy:
“But if you accept Hiss’s guilt, as most historians now do”
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/02/29/books/reading-alger-hiss-s-mind.html?ref=algerhiss&pagewanted=1

So maybe there’s hope! :-)
