Ha and I thought I was the only person who profiled cashiers when I had coupons. I even have my favorite cashiers now..hehe

FYI, I just looked on my DVR guide and the Extreme Couponing show you referenced on TLC will be on again on 1/4 at 10pm and 1/5 at 1 am.

Your “avoid the cranky, old cashier” story has happened to me, too! Today I cut out some Walgreen’s coupons and matched most of them up with manufacturer’s coupons. Tomorrow I’ll have to take a deep breath when I get to the register. The *day* cashier is the meanest, crankiest woman on earth and it’s always a battle.
I could go to the pharmacy but the line is always so darn long. Maybe I’ll send my husband out. He always enjoys a challenge!

Thanks for the article. Now I know I have to work harder/smarter so I can retire without dealing with coupons and profiled cashiers.

Hint: If you don’t like the cashier at the front, then go to the cosmetics counter and check out there. That is what I did today.

which lowered the total price to $3.98. She pulled the coupons up close to her eyeglasses as she tried to figure out what the clearly stated $5 off two means. After about a minute she very reluctantly knocks 5 bucks off the price.
And then...I hand her two Advil manufacturer's coupons which were $2 each which made the Advils...FREE!
Actually, that would make the price negative $0.02, depending on how the register was programmed. Back when I was a cashier, the cash register would throw a royal fit whenever I tried to scan a coupon that was for more than the price of the item.

Back when I was a cashier, the cash register would throw a royal fit whenever I tried to scan a coupon that was for more than the price of the item. Except that I was ready for that since I had a small "filler" to absorb the overage. In this case either a banana or a lime. I can't remember which.

“I get to the elderly cashier who had an angry looking mouth.”
Men should always avoid the women with that upside down mouth look, in all circumstances.

The Copps/Pick&Save computer would still have rejected it, because it treated coupons as though the couponed item were the only one in the order.
Good to know that some stores do it differently!

I quit going to Food Maxx because I would ALWAYS wind up behind
someone with WIC. I told them every time that they need a special line for them. I don’t think that I, as a cash customer, should have to wait 20 minutes while they ring up and argue over something not being covered by WIC. Just mt pet peeve.
