It will be interesting to see the 2013 Solar Maximum.... I believe it is said that the longer and deeper the period between sunspots at the Minimum, the more you get at the rebound 11 years later... If thats the case, there will be a lot of problems with things like Satelites etc... Very interesting.
You are right to disbelieve it. THe Earth’s atmosphere is at Equilibrium. A scientist by the name of Ferenc Miskolczi discovered it, he is a former NASA contractor who resigned in 2004 when NASA censored the discovery. True Story.
He has proven that the atmosphere is at equilibrium, and that equilibrium is to an overwhelming extent, governed by Wator, more specifically Water Vapor. There is a bit over 300,000,000 cubic miles of water on earth. That is what interacts with the sun and responds to it’s energy output.
CO2 has nothing to do with our climate, weather, or anything else. It is irrelevant. Water and the Sun are in the driver’s seat. Always have been, always will be.
They were able to cope because they didn't have a bunch of alphabet state & federal agengies telling them that everything necessary to cope was illegal, regulated, taxed, and/or required EIRs, inspections, licenses and fees.
Used the term Greenhouse just so the reader would understand the point. Personally do not think you can directly equate the greenhouse analogy to the Earth's light based biosphere. Greenhouses primarily prevent the suns infrared energy from entering the facility. Infrared is highly absorbed by the glass. Visibile light alone heats the inside of a green house as non-white objects absorb the visible light they warm and then emit heat energy.
I don't buy the entire greenhouse gas theory.
Agree and just used the term for familiarity. Also suggested we start calling the GHG's, Green Planet Gases, GPG's.
That Gulf Stream theory is bogus IMHO. We do not have a Gulf Stream on the west coast US. We have a cold Alaska Stream. Portland and Seattle are never buried in snow because of a lack of a Gulf Stream. Neither is the UK. Could a less active sun or cooling planet be the causation for the Jet Stream blocking patterns ?
The best explanation for Russian heat waves (which BTW continued into November) and the western European cold snap is blocking, negative Arctic Oscillation which includes a weak polar jet, high pressure over the north pole (instead of low pressure). All of those factors interact. A possible underlying cause could be solar since solar UV is very low and that causes blocking. Also low solar magnetic lets more galactic cosmic rays through and those can change the patterns of clouds and also cause blocking in extreme cases.
A weak sun means a little less energy, but not only enough for a .1 degree change or so. But the weak sun magnetically means changes in weather patterns which ultimately can result in global cooling. But even if there is cooling from weather, a lot of energy is left in the ocean to keep us warm or warming, so I wouldn't be worried about an ice age just yet.
If the Earth is cooling then at the very least the Gulf Stream will probably end up transporting less heat energy.

Piers just mentioned the Russian heat wave as an example for the warming atmospheric temps the globe experienced this summer. He was trying to insinuate, incorrectly I believe, that solar activity was responsible. The Russian heat waves are gone now, as they just recently had a riot at a major Moscow airport due to cold weather related delays. There were many factors in play however contributing to the warm spots. From what I gather, it appears that long term coolers now expect Eastern Europe to follow Western Europe into the cold abyss. Other short term coolers expect a more normal January and February for Western Europe.

One of those factors could be the main causation agent. To get those Ice Sheets where they developed during the glacial periods, will require a large amount of temperate to arctic water movement. That liquid water needs to be transported up to the Glacier zones. So I think that at the very least these blocking patterns and the resulting north and south curves in the jet stream do make some sense.

It is not the Ice Age that worries me or should worry any of these current Governments. If what we are seeing is strictly a natural phenomenon, the historic record shows that all of these governments and all of us will be long gone by the time the Ice starts moving significantly. We should worry about how those changing weather patterns will affect current natural and artificial environments.
Now if this natural cooling phenomenon has been enhanced by some idiotic government cooling programs, then well, history can not be a judge. Our species probably has experienced at least two Ice Age events over the past couple of hundred thousand years. I think it is save to assume however, that none of those very ancient tribes or packs of Homo Sapiens were dumb enough to actually attempt an acceleration or enhancement of the Ice Age natural cooling process.
I am definitely not worried about that. The impetus behind the catastrophic global warming scare is the control of energy and the populace, not spending money on some aerosol project or other cooling mechanism. The invention of ocean "acidification" is just another part of the anti-CO2 agenda.
My only real worry is that many people have been propagandized into the freaky-weather-not-normal so its our fault mindset. There still isn't much support for actual CO2 rationing especially once people figure out the details. But the issue can still be used as a wedge by the anti-capitalists.
The money and power behind the attack on CO2 definitely will use whatever method will work for them. Global Warming, Ocean Acidification, whatever the sheep will eat. Unfortunately there are a lot of brainwashed people out there that had no idea they were being played. They actually thought the Earth needed to be cooled and they have come up with a trade show worth of ideas to cool the planet. That makes them and their ideas exploitation targets for the money and power. Climate change has also been declared a national security issue, which of course opens up a whole array of black ops projects. Granted, the odds of these idiots coming up with a theory that actually worked to cool the Earth, is very remote, but you never know. And they have driven us over 10 Trillion in debt funding numerous projects that must have been very counter productive :>
