“Homeland security starts with hometown security, and each of us plays a critical role in keeping our country and communities safe,” said Secretary Napolitano. “I applaud Walmart for joining the ‘If You See Something, Say Something’ campaign. This partnership will help millions of shoppers across the nation identify and report indicators of terrorism, crime and other threats to law enforcement authorities.”

Oh, so NOW the government is going to listen to the taxpayer?

I’ve seen something disturbing at Wal-Mart. The food containers are getting smaller, but the prices don’t change! Pretty soon they’ll be gone!

Let’s see: I should probably report the guy in a ski mask or with a stocking pulled over his head.

But I should probably not report the (presumed) woman with her head, face and eyes covered with a black cloth.

Cultural competence, you know.

Well I for one am SO RELIEVED to see that DHS has gotten rid of that awful color coded threat level system and now has adopted something so thoughtful and useful as this wonderful campaign! </sarcasm>

Wonder what the pricetag was for this ridiculous idea!

Are DHS and CPS Working Together?

This parent did not know that the Child Protective Services interviewed her child without an advocate. Agencies have been tracking her to know so much about her before they interviewed the child and called to visit the home.

Child Protective Services may be being used by DHS as an excuse to come in and check out the home and ask about food storage and parent’s activities.

The parent had made calls to representatives to express her opinion. Also in an update 12/5

“I realized last night, as I continued thinking about this CPS ordeal and still trying to put the pieces together - this CPS interview happened within days of a conference call I had with a couple of Large Class Action Law Firms - regarding “the strategy” and what needed to be done to begin Class Action Foreclosure Fraud Law Suits in all States.”

Is The Govt. trying to Find out, Who has What now? I ask, because - Child Services Interviewed My Child - Wanted to Know if We Had Solar Panels, Exactly Where We Go Camping and Hiking , If have Alternative Energy, If Food Stored, Then Came to my House!

I don’t have a problem with urging folks not to be shy about reporting suspicious behavior. The slogan derives from NYC in the post-9/11 era — and frankly, it’s meant as an politically INcorrect rejoinder to those (lefties) who believe it’s often “racist” or otherwise improper to report suspicious behavior.

May I suggest the people of Arizona keep Big Fat Sis’s switchboard busy, 24/7, burn the wires. Nothing to do with Wal-Mart, of course, but with activity along our border. Texas can join, too. Keep those lines clogged.

I see something very disturbing. Thirty two checkout lanes and only two of them open, one being a self-service...do something about that!

This just shows how out of touch Big Sis really is! Do you think she REALLY wants people of WalMart to report what they see??

Can PEOPLE OF WALMART even READ???

Exactly! Where I live there are a lot of migrant workers that go to Walmart. I don’t know if they are legal or not, but I can’t imagine this will be good for their business in the long haul. I would think it will make a lot of their shoppers stay away.

Here’s another possibility: the feds have picked up terrorist chatter discussing a possible attack against big box retailers, and might have mentioned Wal-Mart specifically. No one wants to discuss the plot publicly, for fear it will make a bad Christmas shopping season even worse. So, as with the “justification” for the airport body scans and pat-downs, we get some sort of vague reasoning from the feds and (in this case) the retailer.

I’ve long wondered why the bad guys haven’t gone after retail targets during the holidays. The chain stores have decent security, but they’re not fully prepared for that sort of attack (and for that matter, neither are most local police departments). So once again, the public becomes the first line of defense, with the feds hoping that shoppers will report suspicious activity.

If my scenario is accurate, we’re already way behind the threat curve. One more reason to shop on-line.

Gosh geeze, I saw a white guy buying 9mm ammo. where do I report this?

He is going to kill ducks, he admitted it to the clerk. Obviously a crime against animals.

You just made the CEO of Costco smile. Did you know all their customers belong to mensa and are some of the most attractive shoppers in the country? /s

"Partners include the Mall of America, the American Hotel & Lodging Association, Amtrak, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, sports and general aviation industries, and state and local fusion centers across the country>"

What is a "fusion center"?

A short video message, available here, will play at select checkout locations to remind shoppers to contact local law enforcement to report suspicious activity.

Great, now as in the airport, we're going to have to hear a message play, over and over and over...

Maybe they’re worried that all the Chinese stuff in the WalMarts might be booby trapped...
