Oh I battle that ‘how could the left be that dumb?’ beast all the time when I try to fathom why they do what they do. I think they are tone deaf - the way the Obama administration is tone deaf. I think that Bill represents some ‘Camelot’ days to the left (! I know but it’s the left we’re talking about) and the Clintons are the barracudas who could destroy opposition more effectively than other less connected/entrenched Dem candidates. If the left doesn’t choose Hillary, then the Clintons will be taking their revenge right around the same time that the Obama’s are taking theirs. *duck and cover!*

Actually, it’s mostly been disputed, not refuted. There is a difference. From what I understand of it, there can indeed be genetic predispositions to many adverse conditions, but that alone does not explain the wide variety of responses among genetically similar individuals. It is something of a chicken and egg problem.

Alcohol, for example, may be more biologically appealing to some individuals, yet some subset in that group has environmental inputs or other genetic offsets that inhibit the development of a disabling degree of alcoholism. Whereas others, those who break past the first gate and overindulge, are rewarding the “bad genes,” thus bringing on even more biological alteration. So the imbalances of which you speak, while they are real, are part of a broad and elaborate network of feedback loops and the science I’ve read on the subject suggests that resorting to purely biological explanations is a grossly oversimplified and inadequate approach to the true complexity of the situation.

The upside of all that is that having respect for the chicken and egg problem has the beneficial side effect of not boxing a patient into thinking that popping a pill will make the depression or other ailment go away. It allows the patient to assert some responsibility, and thus some real control, over the state of their own mind.

The human brain is an amazing thing; it is capable, to a certain extent, of rewiring itself, with a little help from some good friends. Therapy that addresses past causation and present response protocols really can make a difference, and no one who experiences depression should feel they are locked into purely chemical solutions, most of which do not work as advertised anyway, and many of which have such dramatic adverse side effects as to make any rational mind depressed, no matter how well balanced their neurochemistry may otherwise be.

Abuse. Past physical, sexual, or emotional abuse can cause depression later in life.

Frank Marshall Davis.

Certain medications. For example, some drugs used to treat high blood pressure, such as beta-blockers or reserpine, can increase your risk of depression.

Who knows.

Conflict. Depression may result from personal conflicts or disputes with family members or friends.

Michelle, need we say more? Plus all his advisors who are leaving. Article states lots of conflict going on.

Death or a loss. Sadness or grief from the death or loss of a loved one, though natural, can also increase the risk of depression.

All of his mother's side relatives practically gone.

Genetics. A family history of depression may increase the risk. It’s thought that depression is passed genetically from one generation to the next. The exact way this happens, though, is not known.

Ditto who knows.

Major events. Even good events such as starting a new job, graduating, or getting married can lead to depression. So can moving, losing a job or income, getting divorced, or retiring.

Top of the world - POTUS. Nothing but downhill from here. Can't do the job, more and more odium heading his way.

Other personal problems. Problems such as social isolation due to other mental illnesses or being cast out of a family or social group can lead to depression.

Being POTUS is extreme high stress. He has to hide so much. And for a narcissist/psychopath...!

Serious illnesses. Sometimes depression co-exists with a major illness or is a reaction to the illness.

Hillbuzz had interesting evidence pointing towards Parkinsons. Also, note the giant scar.

Substance abuse. Nearly 30% of people with substance abuse problems also have major or clinical depression.

At least in the past but not too long ago, Larry Sinclar+cocaine. Marijuana. Both admitted. Maybe in the present as well.

” Watch out, a narcissist having reached his lofty position requires an enormous fix, which he can only now acquire by doing something really ‘progressive’, like issuing an EO granting amnesty to 30 million invaders. “

My biggest fear at this time.

Keep criticizing, see my tag line. Criticism is the one thing neither of them can stand. It drives them crazy. Remember a few months ago, in an interview, he said the one thing that bothered him the most was when he was criticized for the NY play date with MO. Thin skinned malignant narcissist... he can’t handle it.

Obama is not my president. I do not wish him well. I will laugh to scorn at his mistakes and cheer his failures. I want the GOP to block, hinder and slam him at every turn. I want his ego crushed. I want to see his every political ally abandon him, leaving him to slowly twist in the breeze. I want to see him curled up in a fetal position in the Oval Office, crying uncontrollably, and blithering like a paranoid madman. I want to see him driven from office as soon as possible a broken man with his administration and the socialist-democratic party in ruins. And then.....I want his every action while in office to be investigated and prosecuted.

_______________________________

I wish that would fit into the tag line space. It’s perfect. My sentiments exactly.

Look, the democrats thought they would be 180 degrees in the opposite position then they are right now. They believed health care would be the vehicle that they would ride to glory on. Well they were so wrong, they are just coming to grips with it. Think about this... after mid terms there will be a lot of dems that are up for re-election and they will want to distance themselves from Obama. It is better that they hang this around his neck and gain a little distance than to go down and get wiped out in 2012.
Regarding depression. If he has it, and I believe he does, getting up out of bed will be harder and harder for him. He is a drowning man, at some point someone will go to him and offer a solution and he will take it. The fact that they are going to go public is the sign that he has been approached but hasn’t done it.
It’s about applying pressure, the dems are looking for relief for themselves. They will apply it and he will resign.

And the brain is not the seat of consciousness; and there are many workarounds.

(Meaning if the brain isn’t working so well in one way or another.)

“Ohh for crying out loud !
For heaven’s sake !.

That’s all we need now having the Joint Chiefs of Staff wrestling the nuclear foot ball away from Obama saying:

” Obama ? step away from the nuclear football before you input some nuclear codes and send some nukes flying. “

while the Secret Service is fighting the Joint Chiefs of Staff.”

It doesn’t work that way. Unless the US is under direct major attack, any attempt to use nukes must have a second person to authorize it. The football is a glorified telephone and a book with a set of codes for different attack options. Pretty unlikely that a second person on the approved list would co-sign something a whacked-out Barry would do. The Joint Chiefs also have to sign off on it as well, which is why they need the fancy phone (football), to be able to contact them. The possibility of a President losing it in office is part of why the system is set up that way. It has all the cutouts to prevent just that kind of event from being, literally, world-ending.

I spent a fair amount of time researching nuclear weapons safety for a paper I had to write... thing ended up being close to 100 pages long and the leftie nutbag pot-smoking hippie sociology professor didn’t like it. Still gave me an A on it, because I had sourced the crap out of it to where he didn’t have a leg to stand on to criticize it. SOB still gave me a B in the class, despite A’s on all the tests and papers.

It still would make a great SNL skit after hearing this news of Obama dealing with severe depression.
He's not mentally all there.

If the November elections turn into a debacle for the Dems, anybody up for joining me to stand outside the White House and loudly chant “Loser! Loser!”?
