That is, wrong in assuming that she most likely will not criticize their militant homosexual agenda.
Snicker - you’re all of a sudden an expert on what Jesus taught and what he meant?
The fact is, you are saying that only conservative Christians are real Christians, when most black and latino Christians agree with you on homosexuality and abortion.
Therefore you are saying that they are not real Christians because of where they disagree with you. But they only disagree with you on how to fund caring for the poor, and perhaps on war.
By this logic, no one outside the US is a "real Christian" either because I assure you, the Russian Orthodox Church doesn't much care about the American tax structure.
My point is that you are attributing beliefs or truths to the teachings of Christianity - now read carefully - that are not there. Sort of akin to saying "Christians believe in Santa Claus". Only worse.
I don't go around worrying about what other people "believe" and whether they're good Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, Jains or whatever. What I am concerned about is getting our country back to Constitutionally based and limited governance. And pushing the homosexual agenda and all the other leftist agendas, and the consequent destruction of the freedoms enshrined in the Bill of Rights, is what concerns me. If atheists want the same thing, fine with me!
Here’s the deal:
First of all, people who have various labels on them, whatever they believe, you can go argue with them.
Next, what people who consider themselves Christians believe or do in other countries - that’s also their business. We are discussing this country. You’re dragging in stuff that has nothing to do with the discussion, in order to muddy the waters. It’s not working.
Third, if someone thinks deeply about Christian teachings and beliefs, he or she will see that a huge government with all it’s bloated enforcement of immorality and unconstitutional junk, is harmful to everyone, whether they are a believer in God of any stripe, or not.
Your feeble attempt to make Christianity the enemy of Constitutional government has FAILED.
No, you are. You admitted that there is a mandate in the Bible to be compassionate and care for the poor. There is NOTHING in there that indicates that it should not be done at the government level.
I never said it was the enemy. It's just not the friend either. It's neutral on it, which is why there are so many Christians, here and elsewhere in the world, who are not fiscal conservatives.
Christianity is not the same as conservatism. Some elements are compatible with it, some are compatible with the liberal view. That's my point and it has been all along.
It's a beautiful day here in Los Angeles, so I'm going out. But don't worry. I'll catch up with you when I come back, if you still want to debate this.
“It’s just not the friend either”
“endowed by their CREATOR with certain inalienable rights...”
Hmm....
I don’t know if any of the Cheneys wrote a lesbian book, but one of their daughters is gay. I am sure Cheney would be insulted by the demeaning way gays are treated by some FReepers. Of course he wants his daughter to have a good, happy, conservative life, gay or not. If only FReepers were a little less harsh on gays.
Jesus was speaking to individuals about their individual actions. He was not addressing government officials and how they should run the government.
Additionally, the men who founded this country were for the most part Christians, and the Constitution which they wrote and signed did not allow for the huge tentacled leviathan which is now in existence.
No, the orientation is from in utero. People can force themselves to live a different way if they choose to. Just as nuns and priests have become celibate even though they were born with sexual orientations and desires just as we were.
BS pal.
Homosexuality is not determined genetically.
Nor is it determined by the length of one’s fingers.
You are denying what you have been saying, which is that Christianity is inimical to real conservatism.
Anyone reading this thread can see your duplicity.
I don’t want to debate with you, I’m just doing my duty standing up for truth. You aren’t debating anyway, you are just employing the usual dirty tactics of leftists and their ilk.
It’s the AGENDA, Yaelle.
The non-conservative AGENDA. If homosexuals keep their private life PRIVATE, no one would know or care.
Hormones are not bogus. You have them and are affected by them. We all are. Hormonal influence in utero affects each fetus -- you, me, everyone who was once in a uterus.
The Bible may have been wrong about what goes on inside the uterus in some parts. It says that a baby is not "alive" until it draws its first breath, and we now know that it is not true. Now we know that conception is the beginning of life, not birth or breath.
You make the assertion that homosexuality is inborn, but offered no evidence.
It’s just your belief, and your belief is proven wrong by the large number of former homosexuals.
Celibacy is a CHOICE.
You did notice that, right?
No, homosexuality is not determined genetically. It is determined by the hormonal/chemical makeup of the uterine environment at a very specific moment shortly at the beginning of the second trimester, around when the genitalia are also determined. It's not a genetic thing at all.
Of course it would not be determined by finger length. Studies do show some kind of correlation with finger length and sexual preference but the fingers do not determine anything.
There is evidence, and I did offer it. See post 216.
And yes, you can choose to live a heterosexual lifestyle no matter what your orientation.
