As a former drug & alcohol abuse counselor, I see reflected in Glenn Beck the same mindset that destroyed many of my clients - a mystical belief they must surrender to the collectivists of AA to save themselves instead of using their God given ability to reason their way to complete recovery.

Therefore, what I saw Saturday wasn’t a prayer meeting, it was a massive AA meeting.

No doubt the next thing Beck will be telling us next that we are all suffering from the “disease” of socialism, and that we must attend his “meeting” daily if we are to be in “recovery” (never recovered) from the disease of socialism.

Beck, for all of his American Revolution preaching, seems to have missed its central thesis which was that man should use his God given ability to individual reason and not the sanction of a “group consiousness.”

In effect, Beck says that a “mystical collectivist conciousness” is needed to oppose “socialist mystical consiousness” - I’d say Beck’s cure is worse than the disease.

Yes, Beck, like most AA Nazis, is creepy.

It looked more to me like an all-inclusive multi-faith Promise Keepers rally - albeit led by a cultist.

PK, for while it lasted was actually a socially good thing. 8/28 stoked many people up with optimism and real hope - what exactly is wrong with that?

I was there. The place had the feel of a Sunday afternoon church picnic for 500,000. Doesn’t sound like you care for Becks looks very much. That’s ok.

What utter nonsense!

Beck was preaching individual liberty and personal responsibility!

The same thing I preach to my kids!

And - btw - you spelled consciousness wrong

As a former bull5hit counselor, I see reflected in you the same mindset that destroyed most liberals and other recovering bull5hitters - a mystical belief that they must surrender to the collectivists of liberalism to save everyone else instead allowing each individual to pursue their God given right of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

So discussing the American Revolution is a bad thing, huh? I agree that to most liberals it is like the dawn to a vampire. It is to be avoided, shunned and when forced to face it, the liberal must rewrite it, lie about it, vilify it. The founding fathers are the antithesis of today's liberal. How can you, a liberal, allow everyone to see yourself compared to men who believed in honor, character, self reliance, responsibility and freedom to choose their own destiny? You cannot, because the glaring differences reveal you for the parasite that you and all other liberals are. As a former astronaut who walked on Mars, I have to ask you, a former counselor, have you ever even been to an AA meeting? In the twelve steps, God is prevalent in number 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 11. If you were a counselor, which I highly doubt, you must have been fired because you do not seem to have a clue as to what you are talking about.

And welcome to FR by the way.

Sorry about the Welcome, I forgot it was 2010, not 2009...memory issues, probably due to the zero gravity from my space travels.

I am glad that you found another field to make your living.
