We've been wondering why Sarah Palin endorsed Carly Fiorina over Chuck DeVore in the battle to unseat California's Leftist Queen Imbecile "Don't call me ma'am" Barbara Boxer. I will give you a one word answer.
Feminism.
It's pretty evident to me that Sarah is a lot more into the "I am Woman Hear Me Roar" stuff than people realize.
I still like her a lot, but this does bother me. I dont like giving anyone brownie points because of their chromosomes.

Melanie writes:
Palin fans, who gave her a pass when she endorsed her former running-mate Sen. John McCain, went ballistic when she gave Fiorina the nod.
Yes we can. Palin is a bs artist. I gave her the benefit of the doubt - that she made a mistake in running with the biggest anti-Christian, anti-conservative and anti-American bigot in the GOP. Now she has a proven track record. I can give myself more excuses on Palin’s behalf...or I can beleive my own lying eyes about Sarah Palin. She’s a politican who follows the path of least resistance - a rino. In power today, the path of least resistence is to gouge the eyes of conservatives like McInsane. That is the opposite what what America needs right now.

Palins willing to go out on a limb and actually endorse, not waiting for the rest of the world to choose sides. Thats a risky move politically.
No, it isn't. Politicians are always endorsing each other, and it usually has more to do with political favors to be cashed in later, not principles. Endorsing DeVore would have been risky. It would also have been an endorsement of real fiscal conservatism, and it would have increased my respect and enthusiasm for Palin by quite a bit.
And the thing is, this is the year to take such risks. People are finally getting frightened by government spending, even here in California. They see the recklessness and the self-absorption of the Democrats and the public labor unions and they're scared for their children's future. This isn't the time for politics-as-usual and timidity. Palin had a real chance to step up as a standard bearer for fiscal conservatism and sanity. She went with politics-as-usual.

Obviously, it IS true, as she RISKED YOUR approval to do what she thought she should do. Methinks you're a little too cynical, and assume that everything not in sync with you is corruption. I sometimes lean that way myself, but have to recognize that real life means real and honest disagreement.

"Agreed, except for the "conservative instincts" part"
I tend to give her the benefit of the doubt because I like her personally even though I do not see in her the conservative leader that she is protrayed as. Becoming a media personality is the route that I think she should take.

Betting against fiscal conservatives like me in California has not been a risk in decades. Note well that I did not accuse Palin of any "corruption" - but she is showing an unwillingness to take a risk and back the fiscal conservative, playing politics-as-usual, and missing what seems to be real momentum building in California against government spending.

For what it is worth, I sent this out on my sizable personal email list after the shouting settled down:
Dear Valued Friends and Peers,
Please find copied below, Republican candidate Chuck DeVore's May 07 response to the Sarah Palin endorsement of his adversary in the primary, Carly Fiorina.
There was quite a "cluster" that ensued after this incident, and Sarah Palin was violently attacked in many Conservative quarters. As many know, I am a Sarah Palin supporter.
I also decided way back to vote for Chuck when he was tacitly endorsed by FreeRepublic.com.
Chuck's statement was gracious, polished, professional, and simply for the content and tone, reveal why he is the superior candidate and desperately needed by California at this time. Notice how he doesn't dump a lot of snot-nosed, self-righteous slander all over Sarah like many have because of her misguided endorsement.
Sarah endorsed Fiorina. So what? Vote for Chuck. Sarah's a politician. Being a Sarah Palin supporter doesn't mean anybody has to walk in lock-step with her decisions. We did that with Bush for eight years and look where that got us.
So be like Chuck!
But last time I read he was way, way, behind in fundraising, so if you don't want to see him creamed, donate to his campaign today at his site.

The Tea Party Nation is routing faux Republicans nation-wide. We can see that happen here in California as well.

She must have gotten chummy with Fiorina during the prez campaign and let that influence her. That is exactly what happened...and supporting one's friends is a huge character flaw...not.

It is a flaw if that support goes against what is right. I can’t read Sarah’s mind, it’s only speculation. If she endorsed Fiorina purely out of friendship and not considering the bigger picture, she pooched.
