Glenn Beck, think before you preach (he implied that Geert Wilders is a fascist)

Beck is way off on this. Wilders is a hero of Western Civilization. He is pro-usa, pro constitution, pro Israel, pro Jewish and is no where near a facist or “far-right”. But I have seen you here a thousand times applauding anything Mormon, even when it is really bad, like Beck today.

More likely Beck’s comments were misconstrued, or, it’s possible, sometimes he gets tangled up in his own syntax.

Just rewatched the segment. Recalling that Glenn Beck uses the same expostulation style as Bishop Sheen (you can play old Sheen videos to see exactly what I mean), unless he, Beck, says "Wilders is headed down the same road", which he didn't, then he hasn't actually linked "Wilders" to classical European Fascism.

On the other hand, in terms of modern American parlance ~ not classical European viewpoints ~ Wilders, and anybody else who is NOT A COMMIE is, of course, "on the right" ~ much as William F. Buckley was "On The Right".

What I'd advise you to do is lose that temptation to evaluate what Beck said in European terms. They simply don't mean the same thing in America. On the other hand the American view is that without OUR guiding hand virtually all of Europe is more or less divided up into two competing factions of the same old same old. There are totalitarians on the Left and totalitarians on the Right and they can take the place over in a New York Second (as they have done repeatedly even before modern times when those words were invented).

Basically your European "left" seeks to impose authoritarianism, then totalitarianism, using NEW INSTITUTIONS. The European "right" seeks to impose authoritarianism, then totalitarianism, using EXISTING INSTITUTIONS.

I suppose the "right" believes their method is faster and cheaper, and not as wasteful as the method used by the "left".

They always end up at the same place ~ wars of aggression against each other, mass death, and they TARGET some group or groups for extinction.

The Thirty Years War had a target ~ the German States! It was fought out between a coalition of the Swedish Empire and France, and a coalition of Spain, Austro-Hungary Italian interests.

Which was "left"? Well the folks with the "new institutions" kind of won ~ large areas of Europe continue to be Protestant. The other guys were "right" ~ they favored "kings" (in the classical sense) over "dictators".

It took another 200 years for the European Protestants (on the Continent) to figure the rest of it out. That was accelerated by the famines and droughts of the 1800s that saw millions of European people fleeing to America!

We benefited since virtually all of their Jeffersonians came here.

If you have been watching Beck explain his view of the political spectrum, Communists and Fascist are on the same end. Total govt is still total govt, a Nazi IS a Communist with the major difference being the Communists want a worldwide system, the Nazis wanted a system that looked to extreme nationalism. If you have read the book “Liberal Fascism”, you would know that it is not just Italy or Germany in the 1930’s that were fascist, but American politicians and many people in entertainment and the media, just like today with Sean Penn or Danny Glovers love of obscure and dangerous philosophies.

I heard him say that Europe is returning to Fascism, but not directly call Wilders a fascist.

Watch the video for yourself!

The RIGHT in Europe is FASCIST

Wilders is FAR RIGHT

If A=B and A=C, then B=C

Beck CLEARLY called Wilders a fascist.

I watch Beck daily and agree in general with his description of Socialism, Communism, Fascism, progressivissm etc.

He provided Wilders as an example of someone who wasn’t even allowed into the UK a year ago, but who was now addressing parliment. His next statement was that fascism on the left and right was returning to Europe. Clearly, Wilder was being used as the example of “right wing fascism”

Of course, Beck did not list one single statement that wilders has made that would support such a characterization. Beck is simply becoming O’Reilly. He thinks for every crazy lefty he slams, he has to offer up a sacrifical lamb on the right. The only trouble is that since the right doesn’t have many crazies, Beck just picks a brave man the left has already demonized and slandered to throw under the bus and boost Beck’s image as someone who rejects all those crazies on the left AND RIGHT!

Beck and O’Reilly, neither left nor right, but rather square in the middle just “looking out for the folks”. What a crock.

Your words are spot on, although watching on the DVR I did not put the two statements together. Instead I saw them at different times, hence they seemed not related. I will have to go back and watch straight through to see if I get the same impression. IMO this would constitute a mistake of preparation and presentation for Beck, not a mistake of analysis. I will watch closely from now on, as will others to make sure he is NOT following BORE’illey
