“We have the power and authority to vote them out of office as well. So, if they ignore our outcry for what we want they are actually the ones breaking this submission rule. Is that a stretch?”

Not at all in my mind (see my earlier post)

I’d say never use the phrase ‘so-called Christians’.

This discussion has been most enlightening. To realize what a great system we have set up that gives ‘we the people’ so much power and to realize how that’s been so usurped that even I was perplexed over how to interpret this passage. Thanks to everyone here who reminded me that these politicians are the servants because that’s the way the founding father’s set it up. And this country was blessed because they recognized God in that founding. What a prize we have and how far we’ve let them takeover that which is not theirs to take.

“For example, should you go violate Christian law by not praying for or mistreating a specific representative because he/she is for same sex marriage?”

No, you’d pray for their salvation, for wisdom, help in doing their job well. . . you wouldn’t pray for God’s blessing on their same sex marriage legislation!

“but at what point do you violate other Christian and Godly laws to push our beliefs on others.”

God’s laws are perfect and are in the best interest of all peoples, and should be obeyed whether they are Christians or not. What other laws would you prefer? We are going to have laws. I want the best ones.

We forbid shoplifting. It is against God’s law. Should be allow it, just because we don’t want to push our beliefs on others?

Like murder, shoplifting, assault, fraud, etc., homosexuality damages a society. It should be discouraged. Whether people are one religion or another doesn’t matter.

“What seemed like such a little thing to me, turned out to be a really big deal.”

Another good example is Lot - committing incest with his daughters. It doesn’t comment in the narrative about how wicked that is. Yet in portions of scripture where law is given, it is called an abomination.

The Bible describes many sinful activities without comment. It doesn’t mean the activity is not sinful. All kinds of bad things went on. David’s adultery is described factually; no comment. Yet obviously adultery is a sin, it is even specified in one of the Ten Commandments.
