My mother always exchanged lit with them. One time (first time in a couple years) a group stopped by. after about 2 minutes, one gal said ‘I think I have been here before’...I about wet myself laughing so hard...
I have JH in my extended family. I should probably know more about them, same with other christian ‘variations’ (being nice here). Differences seem to come down to ‘Jesus is God’. Not ‘became like God’, but ‘is God’. That seems to be a major sticking point to every other ‘variation’...
Is this a vanity post? Is it religious? Did something upset you?
yes they are a cult.
Your post may well signal the End of Days of the internet.
Certainly, there can be few scrapings of the Void remaining to be expressed.
But, hey, Merry Christmas!
What is it about dogs and JW’s? I had one sitting on my couch as I gently showed her the error in her beliefs when Andra came and dropped a dirty pair of Hubby’s underwear at the womans feet. JW fled and the dog never did such a thing again.
Like the truth that the founder of your movement, Charles Taze Russell, lied to his followers (and later, under oath)about being able to read Greek?
Like the truth that your organization predicted the return of Christ in (IIRC) 1975, and then pretended they had been "misinterpreted" when He didn't show up?
You mean those truths?
FIRST OF ALL THE WITNESSES ARE NOT A CULT.
There, even more ranty than you posted originally.
LOL! I love how FReepers always tee up such perfect responses to stuff like this. Nicely done!
I hate to break it to you, but we Baptists ARE Protestants.
Ouch! Btw, was he the guy with the “miracle” wheat?
One down, 143999 to go...
Beats knocking on doors in the cold...
Cults don't like the cold.
There are so many variations of denominations. It can be hard to know. Bottom Line - Jesus is the Son of God, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, was crucified and died, taking on our sins, He rose 3 days later and sits at the right hand of God. He is part of the Trinity-Father, Son, Holy Spirit.
Beyond that, it is ‘fluff’. Differing rites, routines, etc. But when one denies Jesus’ divinity, and rants on it, well, expect to hear ‘Incoming!’. Just sayin’
“....... the fact that JWs suffer so much persecution and hatred.....”
LOL.... I don’t know hardly anything about their religion and I don’t want to. I found it near impossible to get these folks to quit coming to my front door and awakening me from much needed sleep. I was a day sleeper at the time and I told these idiots that.
Being polite to these folks only encourages them to return and return and return. Finally, I quit being polite and told them not to return, ever, or they would be arrested for trespass.
They came back again! This time I deliberately let my Doberman out the back door, knowing full well that he would run around to the front, sit, stare and show his teeth. I told these now frightened morons that I could not be certain that the next time they came, uninvited, to my doorstep, that he wouldn’t beat me there and do what he knew to do best, protect. I never saw these dweebs again... thank God, and Caesar.
