I don't think that's quite it, as I've seen Beckel take some pretty inane and untenable positions to speak for the liberal cause. I think that in the case of Van Jones, to rearrange the famous "useful idiot" phrase, the idiot is no longer useful.

And these troubles are all that crazy Glenn Beck’s fault, calling out one of the distinguished co-founders of Color of Change. Wonder what other trouble Beck might cause, Lol.
Beckel did say he had to go, but said so almost as an afterthought.
His entire message was meant to shield Obama from the association.
He harped on how this was all the Secret Service fault, that somehow they were supposed to stop Obama from appointing this guy because the guy was a communist.
