Ya hear about the farmer who takes his truck into town for repair and finds he can't pick it up until the next day?He leaves it at the shop, then heads for the hardware store where he picks up a bucket and a gallon of paint. From there, he heads for the farmer's grain store where he gets two chickens and a goose.
Once outside, he can't figure out how to carry all he has without the truck, when a little old woman approaches.
She says "Sir, can you tell me where 1430 Brightstone Rd. is?"
He says "Yes! That's near my farm. I can walk you there but I can't figure out how to handle all these things I have".
She says "Well, far be it from me to impose my thoughts, but if you were to place the gallon of paint in the bucket and hold it in one hand, place the two chickens, one under each arm, and hold the goose in your other hand, I think you could deal with it".
He said "That's it! I can handle that".
They went on their way until they approached an alley, when he said "Mam, this alley is a shortcut and it'll save time".
She said "Sir, I'm a widow with no husband to keep me safe. How do I know you'll not force me against the wall, raise my dress and do all kinds of unconscionable things to me"?
He said "Lady, how could you think that? First of all, look at all these things I'm carrying. Why, it'd be impossible".
She said "Well, perhaps. But, if you'd place the goose on the ground, place the bucket over it with the gallon on top to keep the goose from getting away,...then, well, if I could hold the chickens..."
I know, but I've wanted to tell the story and it's as silly as Sheila Jackson Lee...
