Exactly right!
Is Romney a conservative? hmmm, let’s see, having devoted about 1/10 of a second of thought to this question(all the time it deserves)the answer is a resounding HE** NO!
“may have said or believed back in 1994...”
Well said. I was a liberal at one point, and it took several years for me to become conservative. For me, it started with asking questions, seeing things not work and then one day things finally fell into place. I look for trends - if a politician shows over time he is trending to the right or left or center, then it’s possible he/she has had or is having a change of heart. I am leery of overnight conversions. Our current “centrist” Pres. is a classic example. I was pretty sure based on his scant record, and his stands over the years he was going to be the most leftist Pres. we have ever had. I was not disappointed, I’m sorry to say. Words can lie, actions seldom do.-—JM
Before I go to a blog, I like to know the quality of knowledge of the blogger. If you don’t know Mittens is not a conservative, you haven’t done your homework. This FreeRepublic site is full of information on the subject. I suggest you do the work, then worry about getting the blog hits.
Surely you can see the conflict of using FR to drive the same discussions occurring here to your site?
Besides, the "discussion" of which you speak, "Is Romney a Conservative?" [< editorial comment> "Hell no" < /editorial comment>], has been thoroughly vetted here beyond any reasonable level of discussion such that every perspective, excuse and documentation known to man has been posted, and continues daily (unfortunately since IMO the Romneybots are paid to keep it up).
Free Republic pumps out hundreds of conservative posts EVERY FEW MINUTES. If, after the GOP campaign, etc., you have even a modicum of doubt about whether or not Myth is a conservative, it probably means that YOU ARE NOT a conservative.
I regularly contribute to this site.
No, you pimp your blog. When someone lets their dog crap in your yard, it's NOT a "contribution".
I spend several hours, every week day, working up a list of news articles for conservatives to digg. I do that for all conservatives - to include Freepers. Over 50 Freepers have signed up to be on the ping list for this and we regularly discuss which stories to digg via PMs and in response to various threads. I also comment on news stories when time allows (on top of my full time job, grad school, married life and the 4+ hours it takes to make the daily digg list - online debate is quite difficult) Pretending like I’m merely “pimping my blog” simply because I had that “audacity” to ask you to post comments to my blog is wholly unfounded. I’ve been here for months and have contributed more than my fair share. And while I’m well aware that the membership here is not a fan of Romney, I thought that the topic was worth revisiting given the recent analysis that said he was tied with Obama in a straw poll. As I’ve said in many other threads before - if Conservatives can’t learn to venture beyond the echo chamber of this website’s walls to support their fellow conservatives, we will never have the influence we possible could.
He did not “pimp his site”. There’s no request to post comments there and not here on FR. You obviously have no interest in commenting on the vid. The post was properly made to “Bloggers & Personal.”
You don’t like Romney. Fine. Noted. Who gives a damn. I’m not his fan either.
But if you really believe the charges you’re making, run them before Admin Mods.
Seth_Stuck on stupid?
You have no reason to disrespect me. None whatsoever. I’m an active member of the conservative community and you’re attacking me because I asked for comments on my blog - offering up my own social medium as a platform for Freepers to voice their opinions - God forbid!
YES, he did:
Please post your thoughts directly on the blog in response to this post.
LMAO!
I have to be familiar with every person who posts on Freep now if I am to contribute and foster discussion? Jesus Christ you people are being unreasonable. So every conservative who doesn’t spend the entirety of their online time on Freep is the devil. Noted.
>>>>> Theres no request to post comments there and not here on FR.
>>YES, he did:
>>”Please post your thoughts directly on the blog in response to this post.”
I stand corrected.
Are people not able to post comments on both sites? Is it not reasonable to support our fellow conservatives by, egads!, visiting and posting on their blogs (the horror!) And this topic isn’t about Romney as a whole, it was meant to be a specific discussion about the specific stances he took in the debate w/ Ted Kennedy. I wanted to see if his stances were reconcilable with the conservative base.
I asked, politely I might add, for you to post comments directly on my site. I never said “don’t post here.”
Um...
Please post your thoughts directly on the blog in response to this post.
Hum...
Care for a mulligan on that shot there...
I feel better ;-)
Angkor immediately posted a mulligan at #34.
No problem, I figured you probably missed it.
