Check the jugs...believe it or not, there’s an expiration date. We bought some at Sam’s, and it made foam (bad for dishwashers) - turns out this is a symptom of old goo.
I’ve never heard of stainless silverware bending unless you’re trying to scoop ice cream with a tablespoon to the set. Put your foot down and tell him he needs to use a knife with his fork! lol
You can buy good old cascade with phospsphates at most restaurant supply stores. They haven’t been forbidden or commercial use. Heaven forbid our government overlords should be faced with less than immaculate dishes at one of their expensed meals....
Washington state led the country on the push for phosphate free detergent and they started in two counties only, Whatcom and around Spokane. So, every time I drove south, I picked up a box of real detergent and I now have a five year supply of dishwasher detergent in my garage.
I recommend “Cold Water”. Unfortunately he is gone now. Best dam Mountain Lion dog I ever saw. He could clean 8 dinner plates in five minutes.
I bought mostly dry detergent. I figured that I would use the liquid up first and then switch to the dry.
The new stuff bends fairly easily...you are not going to change a 70 year old man. We’ve been married just 2 years, so these are left overs from his marriage/widower days of 6 years. My 30 year old light weight set would not withstand him using them.
Yep he uses his fork to cut a lot of things, even though I set the right knife on the table to cut what needs cutting. The name on the back says Interpur made in Japan, probably bought in the 70’s. Heck he has Nortaki china says made in OCCUPIED Japan.

This is what it looks like. And looks like I can get some replacement pieces.
Sounds like a collector's item - check it out...
Ummm, in the old days - before liberal nut jobs took over, most things could be put in the dishwasher safely. Now with the help of control freak liberals, you can't even put silverware in...
Oh, we know it is, it was only made one year which ups it’s value. It is very carefully packed away and labeled really well as antique china.
What I need is everyday flatware that can handle hard use. I’ve looked at most of the stores like Penny’s, Dillards, Macy’s, Sears and they are all flimsy.
