Great. Palin signs Alaska over to federal involvement.
Because FEMA has such a sterling record.
Apparently Palin is a Big Government RINO too.

Oh, let me guess, a bunch of blind partisans and the Sarah Choir will now come out to defend Palin, just as they defended Tom Delay’s big government MediCare plan, and Bush’s Bailout Billions...

R.I.P.G.O.P.

Disappointing, though she probably thinks she is doing it in the best interest of the people of Alaska.

How many people died in NOLA because of FEMA?
If Palin was a true results-oriented conservative, she would be running as far from 0bama and federal intrusion into her state, not embracing it.

So the citizens of Alaska should not receive the same benefits from their tax dollars that the Citizens of New Orleans got

(And I might add dollars that the Alaskans actually paid in vs. NO residents)

Interesting.

I guess if Alaska is attacked the military should not be used to defend them either, in the name of Conservative values.

PDS is strong...

She does believe it is in the best interest of Alaskans, which is pretty serious indictment of her judgement.

Yeah, just like all of us who opposed Bush’s Bailout Billions were just suffering from BDS...
I know, I know, shut up and get on the bandwagon to Hell.

Very few of the GOP are truly for smaller government in a real sense. Most of them are just for rearranging deck chairs.

Rand Paul pointed out that all it takes to technically “balance the budget”...if I remember his interview correctly....is to simply go back to the 2002 budget. But something that simply is laughed at. Even THAT isn’t enough, but the GOP won’t even support that.

Bush failed us on 3 main fronts. One was the massive expansion of the budget with added redtape. Second was the creation of the hideous Department of Homeland Security and making the Patriot Act thus clear to be used DOMESTICALLY. Third was the cover for the further bailouts and the expansion of the Fed’s power.

There are other issues of course, but those are 3 biggies.

How many GOPers would actually support ending DHS? How many would seriously challenge the Fed and world financiers?

I wholeheartedly support ending DHS.
That is what made FEMA such a mess in the first place.

No, that was legit.

But a state governor turning down already allocated money that belongs to the states taxpayer is irresponsible and as such is the antithesis of Conservative logic.

Or perhaps you like the money going to those who pay no taxes instead of those who it rightfully belongs to, those that do pay.

So you decide what is legit and what isn’t?
Your argument would also insist that all governors accept the Federal stimulus money and all the strings attached.

The reason to forgo FEMA and its money is to avoid the sort of federal meddling that always comes with government money.

Palin has handed over her sovereign authority to 0bama and FEMA by taking their tainted money.

Ah, so you do favor letting only the useless folks in democratically controlled states get all our tax money.

Is that a Gingrich/Romney platform piece now? Take from the rich and give to the poor...

Very Robin Hood.

Ironic too seeing as how I also saw you dismiss Haley Barbour in another thread, a man who I support and challenged the bail out money, at least the part the had your strings attached.

Don’t bother. Some of these people will cut off their noses to spite their faces.

Hmmm...suppose your state and first responders are overwhelmed by a natural disaster, do you accept help from the feds? One of the basic functions of a national government is national defense and helping the citizenry on matters of public health and natural disasters.

You knuckleheads blaming FEMA for Katrina is ridiculous as they were only responsible for a third of the problem. Nagin and Blanco were total screwups and refused to ask for help even though Bush begged Blanco to request help. Yes, there was Brownie and the flyover but Blanco and Nagin still put their city and state at more risk due to their stubbornness.

Back to Palin. Some of you need to get a grip on reality. She is doing her duty as governor and recognizing a basic function of government.

Never discount ulterior motives.

Most anti Palin etc. screeds are rooted in support of some of our less than stellar Conservative wannabes...

My opinion on who has a chance and who doesn’t for the 2012 nomination is based on my read of who has the ability to corral widespread popular support in GOP primaries.

I dismiss Barbour because he lacks the sort of personal appeal necessary. He reminds people too much of a good ‘ol boy villain like Doc Hopper, Porky, or Boss Hogg.

Your populist appeals for accepting federal money aren’t selling. Palin sign a Faustian bargain for federal money, as all such deals are. It’s an outrage that the federal government wastes so much taxpayer money, but making the states slaves to the federal government so they can get a few scraps thrown in their direction is no solution.

Uh huh...

Shall I put you in under the lefty concept of “I want my tax money to go to those least deserving instead of those who actually pay for it because they are already rich” crowd.

Or would you rather me tag your anti Palin meme as the typical shilling for Mitt (or Newt now it seems), which may let you skate by with your minimal conservative creds intact if not unquestioned...

Signing the state/federal agreement is the traditional next step after the president officially declares an area a disaster.

The agreement outlines the state/federal match requirements to maximize federal funding. It also identifies allowable expenditures of the federal money & selects state employees who will be given authority to authorize use of federal funds.
