It's pretty obvious the bow drill is a much more forgiving piece of equipment than a hunting or military bow. One can improvise a bow drill for fire-starting with a crude stick and a bootlace.

No sign of Wednesday in the house. Maybe she went out when DP left this morning, or maybe she got out last night before the Overnight People went to bed. She was in the room with me when I went to bed, but I don’t know what happened after that.
