Can anyone define these sentences for me: “Ego venit , ego posteri , ego eram zotted.”

"accidentally turned into horrific weapons"

Well, sheesh, Darks. Half of them are weapons.

"Drive Reality out with a pitchfork if you want , it always comes back."

You need better ways of dealing with reality.

“Young apprentice, in the hands of a fully trained artist, these are the most devesating weapons on the plaet. But be warned my pupil, these can also forge untold agaony and destruction upon you as well if used improperly or without due caution!”

*Student promptly draws a stick figure with ‘bew-beees’*

“Apprentice, you are most hopeless..”

“Dunno why 70 was a good age for her...”

Well, either Grandpa had retired by then and she got to enjoy their time together, or Grandpa had died and left her lots of money. Hopefully the former!

I think 70 was when she finally got around to using her watercolor paint set.
The one I inherited and haven’t cracked open yet.
The one that still has Cadmium Yellow watercolor paint on it.

Cripes that stuff is nasty.

Nothing beats working with known carcinogens or flash fire room temperature flash point fluids.

I stole my tagline from another freeper’s comments. It is from some prose/poetry or something.

I view it in the terms of Obama “fixing” things with his communist ideas. For example, print more money to “fix” a problem (”drive reality out”) - doesn't solve the underlying problem - which will come back, with a vengeance.

Of course it holds applications for myself as well. (Knowing that trying to hide something, or not think about it - the reality is STILL there).

“The one I inherited and haven’t cracked open yet.”

So perhaps your favorite age is still yet to come!?

I have a somewhat reasonable reason for not wanting to mess with paint that says "Cadmium" in the name anywhere.

I was getting late and I ran out of shingles on the roof but I still was going to keep working till my neighbor started grilling steaks.

Door’s warping already, huh?

Here’s what you do; brace it on the inside with a diagonal metal brace. They make ‘em for screen doors, with a turnbuckle in the middle.

Depending on whether you install it one way or t’other, turning the turnbuckle will pull the door straight, and you can adjust it again later.

Note that I’m not talking about the door sagging. Your door won’t do that. But it’s starting to kick out at the bottom. That’s what the brace can address.

Nothing affects reality more than what you want it to be.

My sympathies to the bereaved Farsi-speaker.

Thanks. It is very sad. She was old, but he was unable to go -- his passport expired a while back. It would take a while to renew it. So he's doubly heartbroken.

It may be the best for his safety; he is openly critical of the current government and a while back was caught smuggling a suitcase full of Bibles into the country -- you can imagine they didn't take kindly to that.

But he needed friends, Christian friends, around him.

G'night 'Face!

Missed ya because late afternoon we went to see the latest Star Trek movie. Pretty good after an uneven (IMHO) start, though the "fight to the death on platform suspended over an abyss" cliche is getting wearingly old and overdone -- once would have been enough here. And there were a few other minor annoyances.

But... this looks like a break from the run of junk Star Trek movies. (The previous one was so bad I regretted the money paid to see it, and I'd gone to a matinee.)

And did they talk? Did he have to threaten them with waterboarding?
