No problem... I’m boycotting Government Motors, Ford, and Chrysler..
Buy Ford - at least they didn’t take the bailout (and according to Consumer’s Reports has a quality equal to Toyota)
Slight problem there, Toyota employs Americans yes, but their profits don’t go to America.
I’m no expert on this, but it seems to me that the UAW/CAW is the problem here, prior to Obongo communizing GM anyway.
The unions are strongarm thugs and need to be removed from the equation. Yes, they were necessary when they were formed, but their usefulness is over.
How long before the Obama administration backed unions force Toyota to pay those outrageous salaries also?
I know that Rush & Sean have had GM sponsorhip in the past, but it would be a good test of their character to see whether they could stop suckling at the teat of the sow.

The UAW & Shared Sacrifice
Why is the UAW Hiding Details About its Deal With General Motors?
So 6 months ago we moseyed on over to The Google and typed in UAW. On their site was a link to summaries of their most recent contracts - a link thats mysteriously gone now. Luckily, we saved it. So here it is, a link to what they said when they inked the most recent agreement with GM back in 2007. Mind you, this was as the company was by everyones reckoning speeding headlong into a trough. The UAW release says in part:
The tentative agreement, reached at 3:05 a.m. Sept. 26, delivers solid economic gains for active and retired members, despite repeated attempts by GM to impose harsh takeaways
The agreement will deliver more than $13,000 in economic gains for a typical UAW member, including a $3,000 signing bonus, two 3 percent lump sums and a 4 percent lump sum.
Active workers will see their comprehensive health care coverage continue, with dental, hearing and other benefits improved. Retired workers will have their health benefits secured by a Voluntary Employee Beneficiary Association (VEBA), prefunded by GM with $29.9 billion in cash and other assets. The fund can only be used to pay retiree health benefits, and will remain solvent for decades regardless of the financial condition of GM.
The proposed contract will also deliver benefits to current and future retirees, with four lump-sum payments for current retirees, and a raise in basic benefit rates, the 30-and-out supplement, temporary and interim benefits for future retirees.
Does this look like sacrifice to you?
The first step to saving GM will be to take back the giveaways in the 2007 collective bargaining agreement. Car buyers can choose whom to support with their dollars; thanks to Barack Obama, taxpayers do not have that choice. Members of Congress and candidates for Congress had better ensure that the UAW has some skin in the game - to borrow a phrase the president likes to trot out.
IF GM gets its act together, finally, what difference does it make what President it happens under. GM will outlast Obama, (believe it or not, he will be gone someday) and if they produce the best car for you, then buy it.
I have always been a GM man and will remain a GM man.
I was just now thinking about this.
THIS capitalist American will not be buying from a zombie “company”, no way.
This unnatural “company” is an abomination and, like Barry, must fail.
It is an afront to any self-respecting American.
GM, and their commie union can’t fall fast enough.
It looks like the public is boycotting all of them right now
Boycott GM? That won’t be hard. I’ve never bought a piece of union-built GM crap in my life. No good reason to start now!
Why didn’t Obama fire Gettlefinger? The UAW had a huge hand in bringing down GM, they struck GM probably more often than any of the other auto companies, if I recall correctly. GM was building cars the public wanted, but the government saw to it that the public wasn’t going to get what they wanted. The government’s CAFE standards and all the other “green” technology they forced upon the auto companies were more unnecessary burdens. The government’s decision to drastically reduce drilling/refining here put us at the mercy of the oil cartels, and kept Americans from getting affordable gas from the abundant oil supply we have as a natural resource. Wake up, (average) America! Never mind, go back to sleep. 0 will take care of everything.
My father & his 8 brothers would all roll over in their graves if I did.
And "if" more Americans felt as I do, America wouldn't have to borrow money from CHICOMS to stay afloat.
Sooner or later, Americans are going to have to realize that without the return of the American manufacturing base, this country will NEVER return to her former greatness & glory.
And try supplying the ARMY, NAVY, AIR FORCE & MARINE CORPS with armament NOT MADE IN USA...
There actually is a recent precedent in the case of Smith/Wesson. British commies took that company over when Clinton was in charge and the people’s boycott killed the company. The Brits sold it at something like five cents on the dollar.
I think that people have been doing that for some time now. They just haven't called it a boycott. I guess that means I've been boycotting GM for 18 years now.
Yep, I am really glad I got my Silverado already, pre-Obamanation. I hear Ford is still holding it’s own and not taking bail outs, so Ford is still on my OK list. Hang in there Ford. My next car will be from you.
If you folks want to see where this will all lead, do some google searches on British Leyland and see how that turned out.
(Except for one boutique manufacturer that makes cars out of wood, there are NO British car makers any more.)
Not a problem at all...way ahead of you on this.
Do they really think that anyone would want a warranty from a government that can’t run the post office, and wants to ‘talk’ to our enemies instead of defeat them?
Beg to differ...bolted together by Americans. Toyota's headquarters are located, if I am mistaken in Tokio, Japan not USofA.
Therefore the profits of the venture goes straight to Japan, not Alabama. Yes, they are paying well I've heard, but to call Toyota, Honda, VW, BMW, Audi etc. domestic brands, that's a stretch!
You like many others, fell for this BS from the manufacturers, that if they set shop in the US, using American work force, it will make their cars US made, and claim all kinds of things.
Walter P. Chrysler, Ransom Olds, David Buick, the Dodge Brothers those are the REAL domestic and American made cars!
