What we need is a thread on the ten worst sci-fi flicks.
I nomination Damnation Alley, starring George Peppard.

I agree! My friend and I usually spend weekend nights when we're not working or something renting and watching obscure, occasionally vastly underrated sci-fi. That was one of our favorite discoveries. But, you've got to watch the director's cut, which does not have the narration that explains the plot right at the beginning of the movie and spoils everything.
Sunshine also deserves honorable mention. It might not be one of the top 10, but it's a pretty amazing movie. It reminds me of the good parts of both Alien and 2001.
And, I strongly disagree with Blade Runner, in any incarnation. Maybe I'm a bit biased because I read the book (which I think is quite excellent) first, and then watched the movie and was disappointed that everything that I enjoyed about the book was either completely cut out or changed, and then completely pointless, useless, random scenes were added in. The filmmakers almost completely destroyed the original material...

I can't even WATCH Blade Runner or Close Encounters... B O R I N G!!!
The rest I agree with, except It Came From Another World. Haven't seen it.
"The Matrix" (original) is the best Sci Fi movie ever (Keanu not withstanding), and it is not on the list... Gah.
