Both Newt Gingrich and Fred Thompson want to battle it out for the leadership of the RNC?? Let them prove themselves: The one that goes public with this issue and fully articulates the pertinent points can earn the spot. Beyond the fact that BO won’t provide the vault copy of his birth certificate, it’s important that he was traveling around on an Indonesian passport as a young adult. So when did he give up his Indonesian citizenship?? Doesn’t anyone in the press or Congress even care if he meets the constitutional requirements to be president of the US? Call Newt Gingrich’s office and tell him to get on this. If he refuses, then we don’t want him as head of the RNC.
In all those elections there are NO electors other than the voters. This is completely different from the presidential elections which are actually TWO elections: first to elect electors and second for the electors to elect the president.
This is why I am saying people simply do not understand the constitutional process. Electors elected in the first election are NOT bound to vote for ANY candidate so they would have to face the issue if he were unqualified but not until they are to vote.
Nor is there anything saying unqualified candidates cannot run or even win just that he cannot assume office legally if unqualified.
I understand it perfectly well. So does Phil Berg. Which is why he sued the FEC and the DNC as well as Obama.
Lingle claims she is enforcing Hawaii's privacy act, or its equivalent.
One would think, though, that a court subpoena would trump Obama's privacy in his BC. So presumably any of the plaintiffs or their attorneys in these ongoing suits regarding O's constitutional eligibility could send her a subpoena requisting a bona fide copy of the BC. I think she would be quaking in her boots if she had to release it.
The Electoral College is not an institution per se. It is simply the Electors in each state and never “meets” as a whole. Electors meeting in each state make up the Electoral College. It is not as if they all fly to Washington and have a big meeting.
Yeah because he could get us out of this pickle with just a really good screwdriver!
It is more complicated than the politics of the Castratii. This is an issue which has never arisen and no one has a clear idea of how to address it even if so inclined.

I wouldn't call him that, myself. Many of the details aren't known. That's the problem. Just who has authority, Constitutionally, to challenge a potentially unqualified winner of a presidential election is another problem.
If there is any politician on the national stage, who is capable of being bullheaded/quixotic enough to pursue this, he's the one.

The people in authority over us seem afraid to even ask the question much less rule to force Obama to produce a LEGAL birth certificate. I believe we are seeing the breakdown of the US Constitution right before our eyes with the help of our courts and politicians. This is truly a political coup with the Democrats at it's core.
Those actions will not have any effect since the institution which decides qualifications is Congress in joint session. Read the Constitution and the law relevant to State certifications of their electoral votes.
There is no role for a court in it from anything I have seen.
Your statement indeed indicates that neither Berg nor you understand the process. This last election is not the election which matters unlike the vote of the electors.
Because I have no faith in the elites in the courts or in elective office, I don’t expect to succeed, frankly. But, if you care about the Constitution, you have to try.
OK, I have a question....
I am 48 y.o., a resident of the U.S. born in NY...I am eligible to run for POTUS, and file paperwork with the FEC to do so.
Who would check on my Constitutionally mandated ‘requisites’...such as my age and natural born citizen status?

My understanding is that Berg and another person affiliated with this suit will be at the National Press Club next Monday. These presentations are carried on CSPAN.
When the Constitution was ratified it established Congress in joint session as the authority ruling on qualifications and, presumably, the States must base their certification of their electoral votes on proof.
